Sometimes stores do place a hold on more funds in your account than the purchase amount, but once the charge goes from "pending" to the actual cleared status in your account, there should only be one of the two charges taken from your account. If both charges have already cleared your bank and been debited from your account, call your bank and you can contest the double charge with them. They will credit the amount back to your account. Also, you should contact the vendor with whom the purchase was made and explain to them the problem, and also the steps you have taken to rectify the situation, and they may even offer to compensate you (gift certificate, store credit, etc.) for your trouble. Good luck!

you need to contact the store and make them aware of the problem, sometimes though they figure it out on their own and fix it before you even notice it. If they don't credit your account which is unlikely then go to you bank... the bank will be able to look into it and investigate it to give you your money back... keep in mind however before you decide to never return to the store... it is a common problem.. it has happened in almost every major business.. it is a mistake in their equipment... they didn't do it on purpose... but definitely call the store first and when you do that a lot of times they will give you a gift certificate or something for the inconvenience

Normaly if it's a reputible retailer..you should be able to have charge reversed. Just make sure you have any confirmation numbers available.
It could take a couple of days....if not then you could contact your bank and file a fraud claim against them....the bad thing about that is you may never be able to purchase anything from the retailer again.

Contact the store in the first instance and give them a chance to correct the error. If they fail to do so within a reasonable time (say 14 days), get the name and address of the managing director, and send the facts to him to sort out. If that fails, complain to your bank and the trading standards people. If that does not help, you can take them to court to recover your money plus costs and compensation. Also write to the papers, who love to hear about this sort of thing. Make sure you keep all original correspondence in a safe place.

That normal. Some merchants do not know how to merge transactions together. So it appears as two transactions in the checking account and should be removed in about 8 days. If it is not removed after 8 days. Contact the bank.

You need to contact the store, they should credit your account. If that doesn't work then you need to call the bank and let them know you have an unauthorized charge.

Yeah...call the store and explain the situation...they will refund you once they notice it was a double charge. But if for some reason they don't, call your bank.

Contact the retailer to let them know. Also, contact your bank to inform them of the overcharge.

Start with the store. I had a problem similar with a local gas station. They made everything right and gave me a $10.00 gift card.
