Sagittarius and Taurus is a crazy relationship...since it's long distance now I'm sure it's fine--think about it, you are not seeing each other everyday. In a normal everyday relationship (that is not long distance) Sag and Taurus do not make a good couple. One is too hard to handle for the other....see Taurus are very stubborn, lazy, slow -lane type of people and Sag are fast-lane, energetic, easygoing and they cant stand sitting still for too long. Sagittarius tends to frustrate Taurus with their outspokenness (since Taurus is not a blunt person) and vice versa. I have had numerous parties occur where the people who did not get along well were the Taurus and SAg (sort of weird).
Of course every relationship is different and you should not base your decision on signs alone...you should base it on your feelings, how well the relationship works, how well you get along, how you treat each other, how much you fight, etc....even though it doesnt seem like it family is a big part of our lives and if families of our significant others dont approve we have to consider if the relationship is really that important to us and if we are willing to put up with that kind of treatment for a long time...

First of all, be careful about making heavy decisions like this at an early age. Basically, because what you want now is not what you will want at 21, 25 and 30. As you grow your needs tend to change. If you make such an important decision so soon you maybe paralyzing your growth in the long run. Also, if your family isn't crazy about him, then that's something to consider as well. Listen to their reasons for not liking him and if any of them are valid, explore them and address them. Don't let love blind you from the real issues.
Now, let me tell you what the stars think:
I am Sagittarius, My Lover is Taurus
This match could prove difficult. But as Shakespeare once said, "The stars impel, they do not compel." If you want this relationship to work, you'll have to be prepared to face some maddening obstacles. Your lover is a practical earth sign who shares none of your buoyancy and wild optimism. Taurus is not a carefree sign, but one deeply rooted in family and community. Taurus' stability is what probably drew you to your lover, but it is also exactly what could blow you two apart. You could start to see your lover as too predictable, cautious and responsible -- in short, a little boring and stuffy. Taurus, in turn, can see Sagittarius as optimistic to a fault, unreliable, too carefree, strangely willing to dump everything and fly off to a foreign locale at the drop of a hat -- and perhaps just too blunt for your own good. Your old Sagittarius bugaboo -- brutal honesty -- could bite you here, Sagittarius. Taurus will want a commitment from you, sooner rather than later, and this is something that scares you to death. The more you pull away, the more possessive your Taurus will become, which will drive you crazy, too. Oh, I don't mean to get you depressed!
Just be mindful of the things that bring you closer. Every relationship suffers from what I call "the down side of the up side" -- the negative effects of the very things you love most. For example, the very stability you want can later become boring. Even though it's not your strong point, Sagittarius, having realistic expectations will help ensure a good, long-term relationship. On the plus side, Taurus usually mate for life and rarely, if ever, stray. Taurus save money and will get you to use a sound investment plan, something Sagittarius may never get around to doing. Finally, if you need another reason to give this relationship a try, making love with a Taurus is a truly memorable experience, filled with sensuous, tactile eroticism. The Taurus lover goes slowly and is so considerate. He or she is liable to thrill you to your core. You bring fun and spontaneity to lovemaking, something your Taurus will appreciate in you!
Give this relationship a try, even though at times it could require a lot of effort.

Stable and loyal Taurus make a great companion for a Sagittarius. Taurus can provide Sagittarius with good advice, practical judgment and a rewarding friendship. Sagittarius, on the other hand, can help get the sometimes lazy Taurus moving, and get them more interested in the world around them. On the flip side, Sagittarius is never satisfied with the status quo, and Taurus likes things just the way they are. Problems may arise when Sagittarius feel the need to shake things up. If they can convince themself that stable doesn't always mean boring, Sagittarius might have long-term potential with a Taurus.

Ain't the stars that are your problem hunni it's the distance between you. It's how you are together that counts. Long distance relationships can be like having lots of honeymoons. You won't know if he's truely the right man for you until you are together 24/7 and can have a "normal" relationship.
I am a Sag married to a taurus for over 20 years and we get on just fine as long as I don't get too saggy (fiery or bossy!).

Can be a good match, but I'd suggest living together a year first to see how that goes before marriage. You might know each other really well on chat, but you also need to do day-to-day face-to-face relationship first.

Only if both sides are willing to give.
Taurus & Sagittarius
When Taurus and Sagittarius come together in a love affair, their connection can be incredibly passionate and steamy, but they must give themselves time to learn about the particular energy this relationship generates. They both have much to gain from their union! While Sagittarius thrives when they're constantly experiencing new people, places, foods and more, Taurus can be quite content with routine as it affords them the security they so prize. Early in the relationship, Taurus might tend to demand more commitment and stability than Sagittarius is ready to give, but if Taurus can learn to be patient, Sagittarius can definitely come to appreciate the comforts of hearth and home.
These two Signs approach life quite differently. Taurus tends to be sedate and practical, which offsets Sagittarius's restless demeanor. Sagittarius may have trouble with Taurus's seemingly dull complacency, and will try to rev Taurus up -- which is about as smart and works about as well as trying to spark a slow, steady Bull to action! (In other words, watch out for those horns!) Taurus actually has much to offer Sagittarius, though Sagittarius may have trouble admitting their need for a secure base. Sagittarius can bring lots of fun and adventure into Taurus's life.
Taurus is ruled by Venus (Love) and Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter (Luck). The Venus influence lends Taurus their love of beauty, luxury and sensual pleasures. The Jupiter influence is what marks Sagittarius as the Teacher of the Zodiac -- Jupiter is concerned with philosophy, higher learning, expansion, optimism, luck and travel. Together this combination of beauty and expansion, masculine and feminine energy is why these two Signs admire and sustain one another.
Taurus is an Earth Sign and Sagittarius is a Fire Sign. Sagittarius needs space to move around and flame brightly; Taurus, on the other hand, is down to earth and needs stability. Sagittarius relies on feeling and impulse to direct them through life, while Taurus is practical and concerned with efficiency. These approaches to life can either be complementary or sources of stress if the two Signs can't learn to understand and accept one another. As long as they both take care to reassure the other that the relationship is special and important (Taurus, especially, needs this reassurance), things will run smoothly between them.
Taurus is a Fixed Sign and Sagittarius is a Mutable Sign. Taurus is stubborn; once their mind is made up, it takes a lot to convince them to change it. Sagittarius craves variety. If this urge to experience something new strays into the realm of experiencing new partners, Sagittarius had best beware. Taurus does not tolerate infidelity; if cheating occurs, Taurus will be deeply wounded and the relationship may not survive the strain. In turn, Taurus must give Sagittarius the freedom to enjoy other experiences and people (on a platonic level, of course!). Taurus can teach Sagittarius the benefits of a secure relationship; Sagittarius can show Taurus that flexibility is sometimes better than following a set, well-worn path.
What's the best aspect of the Taurus-Sagittarius relationship? The new perspectives they can give each other once each partner becomes familiar with the ways in which they differ. Theirs is a stable and happy relationship once they understand and accept these differences.
