Violet is the color on the inner edge of the curved arc. I know because I was just looking at an unusually spectacular rainbow just yesterday.
However, it was such a bright one that it was a double rainbow. The second one in a double rainbow is not as bright, has a larger radius of curvature, and has the color order reversed!

All colors between red and violet (that we can see...there is probably a bit of infrared and ultraviolet as well...). If you were to look at the same light under a diffractometer (spectrometer? can't remember), you would see a few bits left out. This is caused by the kind of chemical reactions that go on in our sun. If you are looking at a rainbow, though, it gets blurred over distance, so all you see is the ROYGBIV contiuum of colors.

Technically there ar no colours inside a rainbow, as a rainbow is not a physical object. What you see are a relection of natural light off water droplets that are creating (combinations of) primary colours.
