Still am, been here for over 10 years. There is still many shotgun houses in the neighborhood. That's why our area is called box town.
This house was built in 1898 and was just the living room, 1 bedroom, a kitchen, and the outhouse. When plumbing came around then the second bedroom and bathroom was built on the back of the house.
Have you lived in one??

No - but Evansville, IN seems to have the most shotgun houses I've ever seen. They even took a still pic of a yellow one there for the opening credits of the "Roseanne" show.

Yep, you could literally stand in the front door and see straight out the back. No hot water heater..water had to be boiled. It was one big room with 3 divided spaces--no doors to separate the rooms. No air conditioners or heaters. You heard every step taken in the house and every wind was a threat of destruction..it was up on stilts and sat on a hill. But my mom kept it spotless and decorated it beautifully with what we had. ...wow....thanx...this questions brought back some good memories
