On 9/11/01 the DOW was at 9500 points. Today (10/13/06) it could hit 12,000 points and my 401k is kicking butt. It got to be Bush's fault.

Gotcha there Dem's!! :)

Yeah Jim, And the other day some Lib/dem was claiming that the stock market was this high under Clinton. I think we should blame the success of the market on President Bush, oh and while we're at it, we should 'blame' him for no terrorist attacks since 9/11, no child left behind, tax cuts, being a moral leader, being a true leader who doesn't govern by the polls, the amazingly low death toll of soldiers in a war that many more could've died the first day, taking the most incredible amount of hatred and not responding back with hatred, keeping the terrorists back on their heels and not here in our country, facing more than any President ever has, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

EDIT* See what I mean. The very first respondent claimed the economy was like this under Clinton. At least we know what we're dealing with. Absolute hatred and ignorance. Sigh!! What do we do about them? They can vote and that's their right, but how do we stop their hatred and complete ignorance?

EDIT* Grumpy, FYI the simple words "to" and "too" have different meanings. Master that first, then you can play with the big kids.

EDIT* Just checked the facts....The dow was at approx. 10,600 when clinton left and declining. Facts, democrats, FACTS.

Darn him! My house was just appraised for $70,000 more than at the end of Clinton's 2nd term. He must also be the blame for lower gas prices, GDP of around 3% annual growth, over 6.6 million new jobs created in 3 years, average income increasing 15% since 2001, 6 million of the poorest among us paying income tax at 10% reduced from 15%, unemployment rate dropping to 4.6%, inflation around a perfect 3% over 5 years, deficit cut in half 3 years ahead of goal, and so on...

All of this despite the fact that almost all economic indicators worsened for the last 3 quarters of Clinton's final year in office, that our world trade towers were destroyed, and that we have been at war for 5 years. Pretty impressive.

Finally, an intelligent question today.
The gas prices are down and the Democrats are mad.
The Dow may hit 12,000 and the Democrats are in a rage.
The Deficit is down because of the Tax Cuts.
Working people have more money in their pockets because of Tax Cuts.
The economy is booming because of Tax Cuts.
THE DEMOCRATS ARE SO MAD.

You are just another rich Republican and when the Lib's and Dem's get in office. You will be taxed off your wealthy high horse. You need to give your wealth away to the fat and lazy to support the Liberal Democrats voter base.

Shame on you for being successful and happy.

You keep investing. It doesn't matter where your investments come from. They can take granny's social security and tell everyone to save for their own operation, if they can't they can just die and decrease the surplus population. We don't need the middle class anyway, we have cheap labor from Mexico. China and India can make their children work all day for pennies. God bless America.

Well considering that he controls the global economy right now, it is not a surprise he would be manipulating the stock market, by lowering the price of the barrel of oil, right in time for elections too!

The economy was like that during Clinton's presidency, but you conservatives kept on blaming him for everything from the weather to the 1994 baseball strike.

Hypocrites.

I think "bottles" has been hitting his own "name" to hard and to often. Calling Bush effective is like saying heart attacks cure cancer.
