Whenever the temperature rises, the fan starts making a humming noise. This happens just recently. What shall I do? I've been looking all around for a similar fan but I can't find it.

Conatct the manufacturer of the laptop. They will have the fans available. Normally they are specific to that make/model so you can not get them elsewhere.

Have you tried cleaning the fan with compressed air? Also check to be sure that the screws holding it are tight. Often is all it will take to resolve the issue.

Haha - "do not use the laptop till you have a new fan put in"

Anyways, it's very likely that your fan just got a noisey bit of dust or dirt stuck in it which is causing all the fuss. What you don't want to hear is any sort of knocking/clicking sound from the fan, because then it's in danger of braking a rotor off, getting it suck somewhere and breaking all the other rotors off.

Even with today's low-temp portable CPUs, a fan is generally an always-on for the CPU still, so I'm guessing the fan you are hearing is the main exhaust fan for the computer. While this function is absolutly necessary, it is not a function that if the fan stops the computer has the potential to destroy itself (like the CPU fan would.)

My advice would be that if it is bothering you (just on a noise level) or is making you feel uncomfortable then get a new fan. CPU fans can almost always be picked up online where Processors are sold, but if its your exhaust, then you're kind of stuck because for Laptops they can sometimes be abnormal.

If you have any experience then you can look inside and see what size the fan is and can try to find an appropriate match (which you probobly wont have any trouble finding) or you could just contact your retailer or manufacturer.

Stock fans are never really that great... Nice rigs use all after market fans that run for better efficiency and noise reduction. The best choice would be to take this opportunity to actually upgrade your fan, instead of installing another crappy one.

I had a computer that had an analogous situation. for this reason... i wanted a exchange, then with my kind new one.. their became no situation. given which you would be able to arise with the money for for a exchange.. then that would.. help save a number of a while. Plus the priority may be eradicated with the exchange. it incredibly is my concept. Or it would merely be the ability grant.. that could strengthen into dusty a-bit. I each so often take a q- tip, then i exploit the two ends of it to scrub out the dusty factors of it on the area the place it has dirt on the main effectual area.

yes...if your the fan runs slower than the needed speed your laptop processor might fry...but most of the bios have something to detect the heat generated by the cpu..and shuts down the machine when it crosses the preset level...

Most of these problems can be solved by just opening up the computer and removing the dust. Detailed instructions at http://tinyurl.com/yd34oj

fans are designed to turn on when they are hot!
Your fan maybe dirty if its louder than usual. Get a vacuum and suck the dirt and dust out!
