If you have gall stones it may cause pain (biliary colic) or infection of the gall bladder (cholecystitis) and it may not cause any symptoms at all. However, they don't go away by itself and there is no effective treatment for it but surgery (laparoscopic cholecystectomy). The reason you should consider the surgical option is because gall stones may cause serious life threatening conditions, like jaundice with infection and inflammation of your pancreas (acute pancreatitis).
Good luck

I have had a stone in my gallbladder. I went to the doctor with a pain in my right side that I had had for a week. One day was wrost than others so I went to see the doctor. I then had to have my gallbladder removed. If you are having pain in your side under your rib cage and sometimes feel like you can not go to the bathroom and I even got to the point where I was throwing up all over the place. You may want to talk to your doctor about this. If you do have to have it removed be prepared to hurt and I was in bed for a week and could not walk without help. Hope this helps and if you have any more questions feel free to contact me.

My stones did not just go away, I had to have my gallbladder removed 3 years ago and it was a pain that I wouldn't wish on anyone. Mine started with a constant dull ache in my chest-right between the rib cages. When I would have an "attack" this pain would go from that area, to the right side under ribs, around to my back. It was horrible and almost hard to describe. Mine was also like a burning pain. Later, I found the foods that brought on the attacks.

In may this year I had an acute attack of epigastric pain, I had this pain a year and a half before and for about 5 years i had an uncomfortable windy, indigestion type pain although it is hard to describe exactly....any how at the end of June after being told I had many Gall stones I had my gall bladder removed laparoscopically and have not had a minutes pain or discomfort since. They offered me tablets to dissolve the stones but they said it would take over a year to work and that they would return.

I had gallstones last year it got pretty bad I was in a lot of pain. My whole entire body was hurting and I ended up running a really high fever. I was rushed straight to surgery to have my gallbladder removed. I don't know of any other treatments I imagine there are but mine weren't found till I got really sick.

The danger is when it gets clogged in the opening trying to pass and gets infected...now adays,...they have pills that can break up the stones...but in the meantime...the gas cholic can really be painful...if you get a fever....don't hesitate to go to the doctor.
