I already have an adapter (1/4" to 1/8") for guitar cable to PC, but what do I need to make the computer act as an amplifier?

If youve got any sense get a proper amp.why would you trick about with a few watts when a real amp will give you POWER...

You need to have powered external speakers that sound like a stereo and not those cheap little speakers that sound like a boom box at best.
