Well, the first "flying saucers" were supposed to have been sighted in 1947, by Kenneth Arnold, over Mount Ranier in Washington state. But UFOs, unidentified flying objects, have been seen for centuries, perhaps as far back as caveman days, since things remarkably like them have been founded painted on ancient cave dwellings. The Egytians and Romans saw them too.

Having not read it, I'm probably not the bet to answer this (and being an atheist as well) but there is alleged references to UFO type phenomena in the bible. Good just be the conspiracy theorists hype, but...who knows?
