you're definitely not too old to start. you will never be an elite gymnast but i'm sure you'd be surprised at how far you can go.
if you're looking for a gym, flytz gymnastics is an excellent place to go. we have a great class program. i used to do gymnastics there and now i coach. i'm not sure where in N.E. ohio you live so i don't know how much of a drive it would be. but if you can you should totally check it out.

Hey. That is great to hear you have an interest in gymnastics! Whoo-hoo!
Anyway. No, I do not think ti is too old. Like some said, Olympics, maybe not, because some that have been in the Olympics actually were 13! But you can be on a gym team, a coach, a cheerleader...you can even become as good as opening your own studio.
If the Olympics is what you are aiming for, you need a coach. You can't go into it without one. And I am not just talking about ones at studios and gyms that help everyone else, I mean a personal trainer and coach.
But, for a hobbie, go for it! Gymnastics is really REALLY fun, and it keeps you in great shape. Good luck!

Yes and no. If you're just looking to have fun with the sport and don't have the goal in your mind of one day making it to the Olympics or competing on a D1 college team (which at the rate things are going, we'll only have D1 teams left in another 4 or 5 years) then yes gymnastics is fine to start at age 13. You have to keep in mind that you'll be very far behind the other girls your age, but don't let that disappoint you. Go in, and give it your all. Just keep in mind, the sport will require a lot of practice, and dedication/sacrifices. I gave up a LOT for this sport when I was in High School, and even more for it when I came to college. Get ready to be sore (in a good way heh) like you never knew possible! :) And remember, in this sport.. Form means everything! Just because a skill is easier to do with bent legs, flexed feet and otherwise no other form, doesn't mean you should do it! Spend more time getting the skill down so you can do it right.

No, 13 is not too old to start gymnastics. If you want to do it go ahead. You might not know what all the others ones know, but with hard dedication you will do fine.

Depends on what you wanna do with it. Olympics - yeah, that's a bit old. But if you want to be on your college gymnastics team later, or do it for fun, - this is just fine.
I started at 14 and I had a lot of fun with it, including competitions.

You re not to old to start, but to old to become a Olympic star.(Most Olympic gymnasts start when they are toddlers, and reach the Olympics in their teens)
But don't let that stop you, you can still get as far as regional, and it will keep you fit.

You're fine if you want to start gymnastics on a recreational level. However, if you want to compete professionally, you are a bit too old to begin now.

no you are never to old, but a word of caution gymnastics are taught from very young they have a short carreer, why is that, the answer lies in the bone structure of the young they are very supple and muscle development can be trained the earlier they start, however that should not stop you training in gymnastics its a very good sport
and you can enjoy the sport without trying to compete at a high level
convince your parents ,take them along they may enjoy seeing you enjoy yourself.LF

Your never to old to start gymnastics as long as your willing to dedicate your mind and your body to the sport. Also this isnt just one of those sports you learn just like that it takes hard work and perseversance!!!! If your willing to devote yourself to it then go for it!
