I live in scottsboro, al. and have been looking online at some classes but really don't know where to begin.

There are several good books on amazon.com.
The link I provided is pretty good.
You can pick up a used copy for 5.45! (plus s/h)

It has everything from "what is digital photography" and how to select a digital camera to editing and printing your photos.

I got this for my daughter's upcoming birthday.
