"No operating system" means that the computer is not seeing Windows 98. First check that you do not have a floppy disk in the floppy drive - or CD in the CD drive. That will cause the error.
Check to see if the computer is seeing that the hard drive is present. Be way to do that is to boot the computer and press the key that will take you into the computer's set up (on a Dell it is F2). Make sure that the Hard Drive is listed as the Primary Drive.
If the computer is seeing the hard drive, then something has happened that corrupted the Windows install. You will probably have to reinstall Windows. If you have data on the drive that you need, you can try placing the drive into another computer as a second hard drive and see if you can read it. If you can, copy the data off the drive. Then format and reinstall Windows.

hi, you need windows 98 se.cd to install & set up & you need the system drivers .you dont have them then your need to find out what hardware are in the system then download the drivers ,for the system. & you still need windows 98 se ,cd if your going to use windows 98 se , on the system if you want to move upto windows xp. then you need to check if your system can take windows xp on before you buy windows xp . but you do need your drives for the systm with out them it is not a system

Sounds like you don't have an operating system. You can download and install Ubuntu Linux for free. Just do a google search.

whats the config ,is it a p3 ,p4 . If it is a p3 1gz you can safetly install win xp . If it is p4 no probs atall install win xp right away.
If it is a p2 install win 98 se. you will require a mother-board cd for additional drivers (graphic ,sound, direct x etc ).

u probably mean no operating system found. that means u either have to reinstall or use a bootdisk to get back everything u had on it

Just reinstall the OS win98, you can install it from DOS mode.
