I took an ovulation predictor test this morning. I had one solid dark purple line and 1/2 of a lighter line. What does this mean? Will I get my lh surge tomorrow? Was the test bad? And if I get my lh surge tomorrow, when should we have sex?

I am testing by doctors orders. I had irregular periods was not ovulating in the past. My doctor has me on glucofage which is suppose to make me ovulate. My doctor wants me to test to see if I actually ovulate this month (and if I do, he wants us to ttc). So...taking temps, or trying on certain days is not going to work for me. Believe me I tried that for three years.

I love the OPK kits... The 1 1/2 lines means that you have not yet hit the LH surge. You need to wait until you see 2 dark lines and that lets you know that you are about to surge. I use them to see if I ovulate as well... Have sex every other day until both lines are dark and then everyday after that!

both lines have to be complete lines maybe you didn't pee on it long enough but anyway they both have to be the same darkness to have your surge in the next 48 hours take it again tomorrow morning w/ your first morning pee & count to 10 while you are peeing on it but not fast, & you also don't want to pee too much on it either. as soon as you see both lines the same start having sex it doesn't have to be right then & there, you don't have to call him home from work or anything like that but either have it everyday or everyother day & make sure you lay there w/ you legs up in the air w/ a pillow propped under you butt for at least 10 to 20 minutes. you can even start having sex now every other day if you want because the sperm stays in you for a few days & if your egg drops it is already there. well good luck!!!

ATTENTION: Ovulation Predictor kits are good don't listen to "Kim" not everybody is fertile mertile! the kit will tell you when your surge is getting ready to happen, bacause yes for most people you usually ovulate around day 14 but not every body does some people ovulate like day 20 or it's even been known to happen around day 30 I've read. but for me it's happened various days different months like one month day 12 the next month day 15 or 16 but you get the drift, continue to take the predictor kit, they are only $12 a month. And you should have sex more than just 1 day out of the month days 12 -16 are good usually. 2 days before you ovulate & the day of ovulation & the day after, just to be sure. & yes you should be charting on the calendar when you start you period & when you took the predictor kits & surged & had sex keep track of everything incase you need to go to a fertility specialist later. that way you will have all that to show them. they will make you take you basil body temp every morning I didn't like doing that though!

I don't think the ovulation predictors are that good. To save you some money try this..keep a log on when your period starts, count 13 to 14 days after your period you should have ovulated. Have sex on the 12th day after your period, you will have a great chance on getting pregent. Because between the 12 to 14 days after your period the sperm will be inside your uterus and waiting for the egg to be release.

It worked for me three times!!!

I never liked those either, they say the line has to be as dark or darker than the control line and it has to be a full line. I stopped using them and I went by my cervical mucus and it worked wonders for me. The second month of trying I got pregnant. If your cm is watery and stretchy then you are ovulating....get the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" It explains everything....good luck...
