With all the School shootings, gang warefare and murder it is glaringly obvious that outlawing guns would reduce gun crime. We also know that its only for financial reasons that they don't. Is it not about time the real people of america stood up for themselves and say no to the killings that there own Government quite clearly don't care about.

David, if you judge someones purely on there spelling then maybe your parents spent a lot of money educating you but little time teaching you not to be ignorant.

Qburt, im saying stand up to the government and ask them to outlaw gun ownership, what im saying is that too many people abuse 'there right'. If you look at countries that don't allow gun ownership in the way you do and then look at the gun crime stats the figures speak for themselves...I personally think that people lives are more important than peoples right to own something that can end someones life, what about the rights of all the people that get shot and killed, what about there rights?

Im not from America as some of you assumed..
I apologise for my lack of knowledge as to whether it was government or public vote that would be required, but hey, thats what this question and answer thing is all about, i learnt something from the people who were polite enough to answer properly. Unlike David who obviously has to make up for his small manhood by picking on peoples spelling..
To the people that compare gun deaths to automobile accidents death. An accident is an accident, so banning cars because of accidents is stupid, when a kid walks into a school and shoots people do you refer to that as an accident too?
Hitler outlawed guns, look what happened there, eh? Are you saying that if America did outlaw guns then Bush would turn into a Hitler figure..?? Well you may have a point there as he likes invading countries...
Some great answers people, keep going please.

Guns don't stop you being attacked ... it just makes the criminals believe that they have to be more violent, as there could be resistance.
If I was a store owner in the USA I would think that there is more chance of me being shot ... as robbers would expect me to have a shotgun behind the counter...
A guy having a gun across the street makes me want to have one too ... on a larger scale why does the west (especially USA) condemn countries that want to have the right to defend themselves with weapons that everyone else seems to have?
... It is probably the right of all americans to have guns ... just like it is probably the right of Iran and North Korea to have weapons too ... whatever weopons they see fit ... as like you they believe that there is less chance of them being invaded (like Iraq)
and they would probably react the same way you guys all have, if told that them having weapons would contribute to more murders/killing.
We all have rights ... that doesn't mean that they are for the greater good.

Well, Don, you obviously are unaware of a lot of facts and are a knee jerk reactionary. There are over 60 million gun owners (legal) in the US. Of those less than 1% have been involved in the illegal use of a firearm. (see the attached web site for a definitive and unbiased review of the facts by a U of Chicago economist). People die every day from knives, baseball bats, high heeled shoes, golf clubs and balls and automobiles but you don't want to outlaw those, do you? I would not trust a government that's afraid of me and my firearms. Hitler outlawed firearms and look what happened there. By the way, in States where licensed concealed handgun Carry is permitted (40+ States) violent crime has declined. Do some research and get back to us, will you - read the book at least?
In Great Britain, Australia and Canada violent crime has increased since the banning of firearms. In addition, the greatest contribution to the environmental trust fund in the US comes from hunters and hunting organizations through purchase of licenses and birding stamps. If a teacher in Columbine had been armed who knows...The fact is that if I'm a criminal and I don't think you can defend yourself you're my target. Look at the girl that was shot by a punk last year in NY. After they were robbed, she said,"What are you going to do now, shoot us?" Well, the punk did just that. If someone in that group had displayed (not even drawn) a handgun (legal) she'd be alive. People who have licenced hadgunguns, by the way, are held to no less strict a standard than any law enforcement officer, if not moreso.
Without the 2nd Amendment, by the way, there would be no 1st.

Taking guns from Honest people wont solve anything. It's like taking cars from everyone because the drunk drivers killed people.
You say "stand up to the government" and then say "outlawing guns". Ok, which is it? Stand up to the government? or take away our rights?
Your confused, get a grip on reality and come back again.
Edit -
You lost the point. If you take our right to bear arms away, you allow the government to take control.
Those countries that outlawed ownership of guns have it worse than we do any day of the week. Imagine you just gave up your weapons to the government and the next week a guy breaks into your house carying a gun. What now? Before you had the option of defending your home. Now you don't.
Do you think that gangs and mobs will be without guns? Hell, deaths would skyrocket because criminals will proudly announce that they have control by killing people.
Peoples lives are more important...which brings me back to what I said at first. More people are killed in auto accidents, should we take away the car?

I agree that the government seems less caring but purely for greed issues. Outlawing guns doesn't solve anything first there are too many guns already out on the street second since when does a criminal care if he/she breaks another law like having a gun third the problems with todays youth isn't a government thing or gun thing it is a parental thing. Parents have gone away from discipling children because of the physcologists telling them it is wrong. The youth of today have no respect for adults or laws. They have never learned that there are consequences when they do something wrong read above about discipline. They don't learn that failure is a part of life. It doesn't destroy self esteem it builds character. I agree that change needs to occur in the government but the trouble with todays youth lies squarely on their parents shoulders.

War happen is because of humans narrow mindset. It's not the gun thingy fault but it's humans fault. You cannot blame the Gov for not doing this or that if you, yourself didn't make a move. To make all nation stand up as one to bring peace back isn't hard and what's difficult is to assure everyone to make their 1st step. People nowadays doesn't really realize that the world is coming to an end for wealth, hatred and all sort of earth thingy have covered their eyes which makes them walk blindly. Human always complain this or that but they never sit down and think of a solution and this why things wouldn't get better.
In these entire world, everyone is given a heart to love but not many of us is willing to give our love to those who needed and at the same time, we keep on asking why aren't there people helping. It's just like u saw a child knock by a car and then you stand there asking people why don't they lend a hand to help the child. Well, that's the problem u need to solve b4 asking others to make the step with you.

No way, pal. If you outlaw guns it will mean that only criminals will have them. Why, because they will steal them or get them on the black market like they always do. Many a home invasion was thwarted because the home owner toted a gun. If the government has guns, I want a gun. Without guns, there would have never been a United States (how could the Europeans enslave so many Africans and kill so many Indians without guns)and your point would be mute.
I personally wish that guns and bombs never existed in the first place. It has just made the world an extremely violent place. That you white man (European) for another invention that helps to spread violence and destruction as you seek to take over the world.

Ah yes, the old "if there were no guns, then there would be no crime" argument. Not only childishly naieve, but utterly incorrect.
You see the problem is not guns, the problem is culture. In the US, gun culture is seen as cool. Instead of villifying gangstas, you deify them. Make them "role models" for some bizarre reason.
Take a look at Canada, there are, at last count, more firearms in Canadian homes than in US homes per capita. But the incidence of firearm crime is FAR lower. True it exists, but most of the incidents are directly related to a US gang.
So the idea that "guns kill people" is an asinine one. More deaths happen with automobiles than guns, want to ban them too?
Please, do a little research before you pose such moronic questions ok?

NO!!!! The government is the people, write to your Congressmen or women and tell them your problems
and they will write back to you because I do it all the time and if enough people did this, then you would find out that your government really cares for you or go see your
Congressman or Woman when you take a trip to Washington, DC and I have done that several times and it
is very rewarding to be able to sit down and talk to the people who represent you and every American.
When you outlaw guns, only the criminals will have guns.
Remember The Soviet Union and Nazi Germany, they outlawed guns and a whole lot of people DIED!!!!!!!!!!!!

It`s useless to talk about taking guns away from people because
some puss passed a law saying they have a right to them, but most guns are not owned legally in those United States,so don`t worry if they keep popping of at each other and as for your spelling and the divs who criticise and want you not to have an opinion do they want you to use there fifth amendment and keep quiet ?.I can`t spell ether so dont worry about that, keep on spouting. You should study History a little more carefully.
David Koresh stood up to the government when they tried to illegal enter the compound at Mount Carmel.
Sitting Bull stood up to the government's repeated breach of treaties.
The Confederacy stood up to the government, and they burned Atlanta and destroyed the entire South.
With that History, people are going to be a bit reluctant to get too worked up.
