I personally think it's the copycat theory. One gets the courage to do it & others follow.

People are not taught how to deal with problems correctly. We are taught to ignore people teasing us, which never works. It just become pinned-up rage. I think there needs to be more attention to whoever is teasing people. We can't just ignore stuff like that anymore.

Yes i agree with the copycat theory i think because it has been happening so frequently lately it is a bigger deal than if it was just one random incident the news blitz surrounding these events are just huge so if your a angry person with no reason to live and a need for some serious attention what do you do shoot up a school. I just feel sorry for kids these days if they are not being targeted by sexual predators they are been shot at in school we need to pray for these children it really is sad.

P.S on a lighter note skillz your avatar is very cute do you think he would be interested in dating mine.

A good point.
I grew up in the 60's and we played cowboys and indians so toy guns were part of our play but these were cap guns.As we got older some went into the military or law enforcement and learned tou use guns in a protective way. Some of us went into jobs that we stopped having anything to do with them. Then comes the dangerous ones, the ones that never grow up.
These are the ones that think that power is in the weapon they have. They fail to sort fact from fiction.Blame it on the toys we played with or blame it on the video games today or blame it on hundreds of movies that gloryfy the use of guns to make a point.Any way you look at it the inmature people that can not seperate fact from reality are a menece to us all and they will follow and become the copy cat because they think it is cool.

I think it's copy cat theory coupled with the non-stop and super detailed news coverage. If you are an emotionally troubled person, now not only do you know that someone has shot up a school, you know exactly how they got there, what was in their bag, what they did or planned to do to the victims. The media basically creates a how-to manual and then broadcasts it over and over again. If you are already unstable, this can help nudge you over.

I agree with you on the copycat theory, but truly, how many disturbed kids are out there? It's not like any of them have a happy ending, I don't understand why they think it' even remotely an option, unless they have a suicide wish, and then take others with them.

Personally I think it's the content of some of the more popular video games combined with rap music.
Both glorify indiscriminate killing and civil disobedience. Just listen to some of the rap lyrics and play the game Grand Theft Auto San Andreas

Well, this didn't happen before prayer was taken out of school...
I think the violence that kids see (in video games and on T.V.) helps them rationalize their actions. I mean, think about it. Kids can play games that allow them to shoot anyone on the street. I know its sounds corny, but there may be some truth in it.

I agree with you but I also think it has a lot to do with parents. They have a lot more control over their kids than they seem to realize.

Well, it can't be because there is a gun problem, or the US Government would have introduced gun control laws, surely? ;-)
