Speaking of dumb...it's not "in there pool," it should be "in their pool."

What dumb music are you referring to? Jay-Z? Glorifying murder and drug use? Eminem? He talks about raping his grandmother. Be more specific, and if you're going to talk about people being dumb, you should at least have the proper spelling in the question.

I've got a Pennsylvania Yankee friend that cannot understand why I love country music. I have thought about at long length and I think I can with certainty answer this question.

For one thing, southerners do not talk fast- we have a drawl that some people love and some hate. Since songs are on average three minutes long, you have to say what you want to say in a wittier way if you don't want to runthroughitasfastaspossible. Some people confuse quantity with quality.

I have listened to many dance songs, a lot of rap songs, some heavy metal, and a lot of other unintelligible songs, I usually had to get on the internet and look up the lyrics to have a prayer of understanding what they were screeching about. Most of the time, I am disappointed with the lyrics when I see them spelled out plainly.

The song sounds like "Floobly gooba florgivergen, razza frackin blattedy goop", or something like that. Not so with country music- the lyrics are witty, you can easily understand what they were saying, and the accompaniment doesn't try to cover up some retarded lyrics.

The phrase "if you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullchip" doesn't work on country music listeners. If the music sounds like 3 cats and a pair of shoes in a clothes dryer, we'll surely tell you about it. (Actually, that thing abouts cats, shoes, and a dryer sounds like a great country music lyric).

I like other music, like ABBA- they have great lyrics, good singing, and the music is rather complex. I also love the music of John Denver- like I said, good music, catchy tune and you can actually sing along to it.

Another thing I noticed is that some of the best country music sounded like two or three complementary songs played together in harmony. They will play one refrain, and smoothly shift to a complementary, and somewhat different composition. Interesting.

I also enjoy Cajun Zydeco and Bluegrass.

Go get an Alan Jackson CD and listen to the songs "Way down yonder on the Chatahoochee", or "That'd be all right", or even "Don't rock the Jukebox". You might like what you hear.

Even the popular Jimmy Buffett was at first a country singer, and he has a strong country influence in some of his later songs.

Like every other culture, "rednecks" like one kind of music and others like another. Does that make them an idiot or retard because they like a music different than you.

The key is that historically, many of the parts of the country where southerners and rednecks originated from Blue Grass and prior to that Scottish Irish origin which gives you an idea of the history of why rednecks tend to like certain types of music.

What do you consider dumb? hip hop music that is sexist and violent?????? thats what i call dumb, i'm not from the south i'm actually from NY and i love country music, if you ever listened to it you would know that it talks about real problems in real life, not materialistic things and "hoes and b Itches" i hated country music until i was 19 and actually sat down and listened to it, maybe you should stop being so close minded because country music is not just listened to by people in the south, Europe loves country and especially Austrailia does

I love Toby Keith, yeah it might be stupid, but he never takes himself seriously. "Rednecks" KNOW that they're not stupid, but they enjoy that style of music. Personally, I think it's not that a style of music is retarded or stupid, but it's easier to judge a song than an entire culture. I dare you to get in front of a bonified redneck and ask him about his "retard gene in their pool".

Just because someone likes a different type of music doesn't make it dumb, would you like it if someone told you that the music you listen to is dumb?

Why do morons listen to rock or heavy metal of punk or any kind of music played on keyboards, drums, and guitars?
It requires very little talent to compose and even less to play.
Rap is even worse.
Why don't you try listening to Beethoven or Mozart?
