Nearly every generation of Americans have gone to war, each generation has been mared with the ugliness of destruction and violence, Americans weep their war dead and indeed these were brave men, but why, oh why, is America going to war again? When will it be enough, when will a generation not have to go to war on the most tenuous of reasons? You will all say but we were attacked first this time! Indeed you were but ask yourself when has America ever been the bigger nation and shunned retaliation on in favour of diplomacy and violence, but then again with your 'war' President did you ever have a chance?

I would like to add that America went to war not because Europe asked them to, but because they were attacked by Japan, hmmm...attacked by Japan and end up bombing Europe flat that makes sense!

Also IF America is a peace loving nation which abhorrs senseless violence why is it still the only nation to use an Atomic bomb during conflict and why did was it one of two powers to hold the world to nuclear ransom during the cold war, obviously acts of a peaceful country!

'Judge Dredd' obviously you should be a diplomat, and the last time I hugged a tree I had splinters in my face for weeks, but anyway read the books man, no American military action in Europe before Pearl Harbor its a fact now excuse me, my trees are calling to me

Go back and read your history books again. As usual you tree hugging fairies twist the stories around. Several European countries would have German as their national language if it were not for the US. Also you have it backwards, we went to Europe first during WWII. Then we were in the Pacific after we were bombed at Pearl Harbor.
Seriously, leave the history and politics to the grown ups, and go back to your little we hate America study group.

We turned a cheek when:
17 sailors were killed and 39 others were injured in the blasting of the USS Cole
241 American Servicemen and 60 Americans were injured 1983 Beirut barracks bombing
257 people were killed and over 4,000 wounded in simultaneous car bomb explosions at the United States embassies in the East African
6 dead and 1000 people suffered injuries 1993 WTC attack
over 3000 dead on 9/11WTC attack
I think we gave peace a chance

America cannot be compared to other nations in terms of diplomacy. Virtually every nation looks to the U.S. to help settle international disputes. Yet, when we offer our diplomacy, we are criticized for meddling. We are by far the most powerful country on the planet, in military might, in economic terms, and in technological advancement. This puts us in a position of having to defend our accomplishments, our soil, our rights, and ourselves. It is not likely we will ever see the day that Americans will stand by and allow others to take what we have built for ourselves. America became what it is today through the efforts of Americans. The good fortunes of most of the worlds economic giants, e.g. Japan, China, Canada, Great Britain. would be considerably less without American dollars. Perhaps if we closed our borders to international trade, more people who criticize us on a daily basis would appreciate what we do for the rest of the world, as they punch the time clock, to make all those things that we Americans buy, so they can have a paycheck.

I'm guessing your from Ireland from your other questions. I can agree with you on many points and share your feelings about war. Britain was near defeat when the U.S. stepped in. Right or wrong? It was Hitler bombing London flat wasn't it? It was Hitlers U-boats sinking civilian shipping, right? The U.S. was asked to step in and had they not I dare say most of Europe would be speaking German right now.
I'm with you as far as this war as there was no plan on what to do after the initial takeover and I wish we would leave and save our lives. But don't hold WWII over our heads. Britain was losing and was asking.

You are trying to make sense out of insanity. It can't be done.
Bush just publicly criticized North Korea for ignoring the United Nations stance on nuclear arms testing. This from the same man who thumbed his nose at the United Nations a few years back when they said they would NOT support HIS war. It was really quite ridiculous listening to him chastise North Korea for doing the same thing that he did.
You scratch you head, as you are kissing your *** good bye, and wonder, wtf are Americans thinking.
Not all Americans buy any of his b.s., nor any war mongers b.s., and some of us know that we are never in a war where we won't stand to benefit from the war.
Peace.

The USA want to take over the world. You are not a hard done by nation that moan about other countries "screwing with you" and "bombing you". Its your "war" presidents that start all of this bulls*it in the first place. As far as George W is concerned he's on a major power trip trying to prove something to daddy. He hasn't the intelligence to sort problems out diplomatically. Remember you yanks out there, your president was and maybe still is best buddies with the Bin Laden family. The problems that face you have been fuelled by your president. Its all about money and power.

I think that you are putting a bit to much weight on the American people's shoulders. War is sometimes necessary to preserve our way of life, but that decision comes from our leaders. We elect our leaders to represent us and when we do not like how they are doing we elect others. Korea, VietNam, Iraq were not necessary to preserve our freedom and we should never have endorsed it by reelecting the same people that put us into harms way for no good reason. But we did. So it is our job to work harder and elect those that truly represent us. We need a peaceful time but world conditions are not very good at this time to do that. With N. Korea defying the world and Iran coming close to doing it we need to stay diligent that we do not allow them to do this. Maybe as a lesson to the rest of the world.

Democracy and Freedom are not something that's ever handed to you. These are things that must be defended and we have done what we have been forced to do by the despicable actions of others. We are a great big booming country with huge natural resources and we are also the very FIRST TRUE DEMOCRACY on the planet. Democracies tend to make other forms of government nervous because their leaders fear that their subjects will see what we have and want that for themselves. If you believe that the Arab peoples or the North Korean peoples want to be subjugated by their corrupt and ambitious leaders, then you are wrong. If given the choice, they would prefer the freedoms that we take so much for granted every day. Our way of life is worth defending. The shame of it is that the Liberals seem to think that sweet talk and autographed basketballs will do the trick. They are criminally delusional and they present a weak front to those who would do us harm, and that only encourages them. GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY AND OUR PRESIDENT!

What do you think the USA should of done after this country was attacked on September 11, 2001, run and hide our heads in the sand and let the Islamo-Fascists destroy this country, and, furthermore, you, absolutely do not have diplomacy with terrorists, these people see this as a sign of weakness. Read and study the people of the Middle East and they are jealous of the WEST because of our freedoms and greatness. Also if you want more information, watch this 1hr and 17 minute film: obsessionthemovie.com It will explain things better.
GOD BLESS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND GOD BLESS PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH!!!!!!!!!!!!
