This question presupposes that all liberals are in lockstep in their thinking. This conclusion is neither correct, nor is it rational. This would be like saying that all conservatives are religious fanatics. There are many facets of liberalism. The base beliefs are rooted in protecting freedoms, equality and kindness towards all people in general. Unfortunately, the debate has become too political and has polarized the 2 sides. Now every attitude or opinion that is disagreed with is labeled as fanatical by both sides. People are just not this black and white in their thinking. The real answer to your question is that there is no answer. No matter what you do you will not please all people, even when you try to limit it to subsets as you are doing here. I am not a liberal, but I do not like it when anyone tries to place opinion across a broad spectrum in a tight box, it is a disservice because it restricts healthy debate and provides a means to discard any opinion you don't like without due consideration of the possible merits.

Thoughtful people assess the world by perception and by reason. Only when they learn what they are "up against" do they turn to their moral sense in order to decide what should be done. And their thoughts about "what should be done" are always conditioned by "what can be done."

Not so for liberals. Liberals are people who have confused the proper roles of perception, reason, and moral sense. Liberals assess the world by their moral sense in the first place. Then they cobble together a "sacred dogma" from their moral judgments, and thereafter ignore any evidence in conflict with those judgments. Anybody else who doesn't play along with their fantasies gets called nasty names and screamed at and treated to smugly pejorative, bombastic sanctimony.

You've seen communists do it, too. The truth, as such, doesn't matter. Only the success of the Party matters. The "truth" becomes whatever the Party finds convenient to assert at the moment. The basic difference between the communists and the liberals is that the liberals work for the political acceptance of mostly false ideas, rather than for the success of a political party.

Thus, liberals are not synonymous with Democrats. A Democrat might use liberal politics most of the time, but his aim is to see his party win elected offices. A liberal might see the Democratic Party as the most deserving of his vote, most of the time, but his actual goals don't have anything to do with who gets elected. Someone who is both a liberal and a Democrat might, once in a while, have to make a choice in resolving a divided loyalty.

The doctrine of racial equality is one of the more conspicuous results of leftist theorizing. More sensible people can gather statistical, physical, and anecdotal evidence about the inequality of the races around the clock, organize it, make it tidily readable, and present it to liberals... and the liberals will ignore that evidence and continue to chant their favorite "equality" slogans and wave their "one human race" placards at the media's cameras.

It's very seldom that a liberal can be educated out of his foolishness. Liberals have held to their delusions even when rather strong contrary evidence has stabbed them in the eye with an ice pick, or murdered one or more of their children (Amy Biehl), or "New Orleansed" their city. In the long run, nature corrects stupidity, but liberals have a political influence that bids fair to take civilization to the grave with them, unless they are stopped.

Liberals work for impossible goals that they believe are attainable only because they have accepted (for mostly sentimental reasons) false premises regarding Man, the laws of nature, or both. Liberals are delusional, but usually they are well-intentioned.

However, liberals often become the dupes of Zionists, who deliberately work for the destruction of every social order that they cannot control, as well as for the genocide of every demographic faction that might be a rival for such control. Liberals got money and power largely because of their association with Zionists, and, often, when you hear a liberal barking about "civil rights" that have the effect of reducing the rights of White people, you are in fact listening to the echo of Zionist aims.

Really, liberals and conservatives have the same goal. Only difference is, they have different methods in order to obtain those goals.
Both want what's best for our country, and its citizens.
The left would be comfortable if there was no more war, ever, and if everyone could just live in peace and tolerance. Conservatives would like that as well, so long as there were limits. Some things would still just be considered unacceptable.
So I hope that clarified my first statement a little. I actually agree with the ideologies of both.

Good question. I don't get them either.

But in the meantime, I'm looking to set up a fund for pages' parents to fund suits against my party's pervs. I know some law firm's ship has come in with this one!

Do you know any good law firms that can extract the pervision streak that is ruining our party and costing us the religous right and Family Values' votes?

I'm thinking if we go with an anti-gay program for our next two weeks' of campaigning, there may be some kind of backlash. What do you think???

Origamimark, who answered above, hit the nail right on the head. There are two different answers to your question. One for liberal political philosophy, one for liberal thinking people. People often confuse that fact that there is liberal thinking and a liberal form of governing.
Calling the Democratic party liberal is a misnomer. It's actually a Social Conservative party made up of liberal thinking people.
The only true liberal party in the U.S. is the Libertarian party.

First thing is to right all the wrongs of the present administration. It will take years of hard work to undue all the stupid that has happened in the last 6 years. We need to restore the Constitution to its rightful place and adhere to it. Maybe set up safeguards so that it can never be manipulated again. The presidential powers that this president has claimed as his, needs to be returned to what it was before the Bush took power away from congress and the courts. Man there are to many things that need to get done to list all of them here.

The Libs ultimate goal is freedom and equality, albeit through unorthodox groups. The Conservative goal: Total Control.

We need to reclaim our country.

This American Experiment is a liberal exercise. The conservatives were defeated and sent back to Britain, tail between legs. How they regrouped into a religious right to engineer the destruction of our country is a cautionary tale that must end soon or the nation will end too.

Peace, harmony, and not leaving our children with a war and an economy who's debt is insurmountable. Pretty much the same as anyone I believe.
