They prefer damp climate conditions and moderate temperatures found usually in the evening and later so in general you see more of thm at night. I am sure people find them scary. Personally I like to eat snails with butter and garlic keeps the vampires away as an added bonus.

No They like dampness and moist areas so when it rains. I don't think their scary but they are Gross to look at. Apparently if you collect them, leave them in a jar until their poo turns Orange, then boil them, you can eat them. Sorry but that's the most un appealing food for thought!!! I tried French Es cargo once and never again, they just taste earthy, soily and Horrible!!! Do feel guilty though when your walking and accidentally stand on them, the crunch noise turns my stomach!!!

Not only at night,no. But some of them exit the ground only when it's raining, because the soil gets wet, and they can't breed well. I don't really find them scary, but I do find them much disgusting.

Why would they only come out at night? I see them during the daytime. They are not scary.
