This is something to talk over with your doctor for sure. However, I was 38 when my youngest was born and I took hydrochlorothiazide, which is a diuretic, in the beginning of my pregnancy without any problems. My doctor took me off of it since my blood pressure was only slightly elevated during my pregnancy. I did develop Gestational Diabetes and was on a very strict diet. I was overweight and ended up weighing 25 pounds less after birth than I did before I was pregnant. Weight loss helped control my high blood pressure very well.

I would say that you should definitely ask your doctor, not these yahoos (haha). Are some reason distrustful of your doctor's opinion? if so, find a new one right away, since you will be spending more and more time with him/ her as your pregnancy progresses.

Let the doctor's decide this one, dont take any advice here, unless they are doctor's, and know what they are talking about, there's another life involved...if i were you go talk to a real doctor...good luck.

even if your regular Dr. tells you it is safe during pregnancy I would still get a 2nd opinion w/ you obgyn/baby dr. & see what they say, if he/she says the med your reg dr. prescribed is ok then it should be ok. & by the way congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!
