Am I supposed to? Do i have to find a tribe to except me first and then gain a name? I know a little about my animal guide but that's all i know.

No im not and my parents never cared but my grandparents tried to teach me but they're dead so i'm learning on my own.

Animal guide? Tribes just don't accept people. You need to demonstrate some type of lineage to be enrolled because of issues like scholarships and IHS where people enroll just for the benefits. Find out what tribe you are first and then contact them about their blood quantum requirements.
