Hello

Almost certainly you will have damaged the finish on your sofa with white spirit whether it is a pigment or aniline leather.

There will be nothing that you can do yourself to fix this.
DO NOT use shoe polish, it will not work and will always come off on clothes.

You should find a good leather technician who will be able to go about this in the right way.

LTT have technicians who have been trained to do this sort of work.

Sounds as if it's a bleached spot rather than a stain. If it truely is a stain, try a good commercial leather conditioner that cleans as well as conditons. If it's a bleach spot, I'd try the suggestion of shoe polish.

First clean it with saddle soap. Then dye the spot with leather dye. You should test the dye on a piece of scrap leather first to make sure it is the right shade. After it dries apply some "Lexol" leather conditioner.
