I'm especially interested in concrete tracks, not just artists that sometimes have a mandolin somewhere.
I'm already aware of Bruce Hornsby and the Counting Crows, so no need to recommend those.
Is there any other really useful site for this question?

I have a very good recommendation. On Led Zeppelin's 4th album you will find two tracks which stand out above the others as far as mandolin. Going To California, and Battle Of Evermore. Led Zeppelin's 3rd album is chock full of mandolin as well. Both Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones were fine mandolin pickers and I can think of no better example of the usage of mandolin in rock music.

"hasn't Hit me yet"By Blue Rodeo. If you like john Hiat, you will like Blue Rodeo. They are a rock roots band, but they don't always use the mandolin. I think Travis use mandolin and Banjo, they are more alternative. You might like The Levellers, they use an electric fiddle, but have a celtic rock sound. Try listening to the song "Liberty Song" if you can find it.
