No way, no worries.
My 8 month old won't sleep on his back as a matter of fact he has slept on his belly since he was a month old. Just make sure you aren't putting any pillows in with baby, because he could get it over his face while moving and suffocate.
I know they scare you with all that Sids stuff but they have changed the sleeping position several times since I had my first son and he is now nine. When he was born they said don't put them on there backs because they could spit up while they are sleeping and choke on that place them on their side and put a blanket behind then or we had to buy those foamy things that you stuck them in that kept them on their sides.
Your baby is getting comfortable and that is normal. Think about it like this if you are comfortable on your side or belly and I kept rolling you over on your back are you going to sleep very good?

Let him sleep the way he wants.

Ask your doctor to be sure, but I was told no.

The greatest risk for SIDS is actually 4-6 months, but you should be careful.

According to my doctor, the reason babies are lost to SIDS is because they are not strong enough to pick themselves up and get fresh air. If you son can roll onto his tummy he is strong enough to roll away from any problems. But keep an eye on it.

Like all moms, I was terrified of SIDS, but when you consider how many cases of SIDS there really are and how many of those cases cannot be explained, the rate is not so high.

Often a case is called SIDS and it was suffocation....a child is smothered while co-sleeping with a parent, a child is smothered on a blanket or a pillow.....that can be explained, it didn't just happen....so since I didn't do any of those things, I felt a little better, not totally, but a little...until he slept late and I went running to his crib.

I wouldn't wake him... Always let a sleeping baby lie! You are so very lucky that C is sleeping through the night... and then some! He seems and looks healthy and perfect in every way... he's fat & happy. What more could you ask for?! I just sucks down that first bottle of the morning because he has gone so long without eating and he realizes that "hey, I might be a little hungry now!"... but if he will sleep through like that I wouldn't wake him up to feed him anymore. He is doing so great :)

SIDS is only a concern if the baby CAN'T roll over on his own and is placed on his stomach to sleep. Obviously your son can roll now, and if he's more comfortable on his stomach, let him sleep there. Just make sure that there's no stuffed animals or pillows in his crib while he sleeps for the next few months or so.

At 11 months there should be no worries about s.i.d. from sleeping on belly. You should still avoid large blankets that he could get stuck inside.

as long as when you put himto bed you put him on his back with his feet at the bottom of the cot so he cant wriggle under the blankets, he should be allowed to sleep however he is comfortable! does he have a monitor? if so this should help ease your mind a bit. there is a small risk of sid in all babies up to the age of about 2 and a half but it can be caused by anything or nothing. just enjoy your baby while he's small, b4 he starts running rings around you!

I would not worry to much. I think he is pass the sids age.My 10 month old daughter has been rolling over to sleep on her tummy and side sence she was about 6-7 months old and no matter how many times we would roll her back to her back it was straight to her tummy. Let your baby be comfortable.

i'm a new mother and i stick by all the rules of sids. like sleeping baby on back blah blah blah....but to be honest i don't think it's natural at all. i was slept on my stomach as a baby and so was pretty much everyone else many years ago. You never heard of sids back then...to many rules now. it is more natural for a baby to be on there tummy. it won't hurt him at all....!! he's old enough to roll back over.

He should be fine. I have four daughters and every one of them had to sleep on thier stomach. They would not sleep on thier back or side. Guess what, they are now 13, 11, 9 and 3. No S.I.D.S here. Just make sure that there is nothing in front of his face and that you check on him every now and again.

Several pediatricians have told me that as soon as they can roll theirselves over the risk of SIDS dimishes. They can still die of SIDS but studies show that once babies start to position themselves the prevalance of SIDS has no relation to the sleeping orientation of the baby.

Interesting to note though that my oldest slept better on his back but at that time the kids were going to all die from SIDS if you let them sleep on their back. My second was colicky and slept better on his tummy, of course by that time they were all going to die if you put them to sleep on their tummy!
