If you don't have a restore CD, and if the problem persist, then you may have to use a different operating system (this of course if your hard drive is still good)

pop in your OS cd and run a windows repair. stick it in reboot you will be prompted to press any key to boot from cd. the computer will do its thing for a couple of minutes. then you will be asked if you want to install repair or quit choose repair. you will be asked if you want to use the recovery console or let windows repair. choose let windows repair. the computer will do some stuf again then reboot. once it reboots it will go through what looks like the process of a fresh installation you will be prompted time date and language info. once this is done you should be all set. this will take about 45 mins. good luck
