I want to know where/when odd-eyed rats have been seen, what colors thier eyes were (usually black, ruby, red or pink), coat colors, anything you can remember. I'm trying to build up information to locate, track and possibly acquire these anomalies. Someone told me they saw a brown rat with one green eye and one blue, which as far as I know is on 4 different levels of impossible, genetically speaking, but I thought I'd like to see who else is out there. Serious, reliable stories only please. Thank you for your contribution!

Hello, tracy s! Where did you see the one with a green eye? I've heard of that! I know that it's called binocular heterochromia and it occurs in other species, but since I started breeding rats for it I wondered if it's been showing up more frequently elsewhere too.
And to Idontlike_idiots: You're sister is awesome. It's very very rare in humans and if I ever met a guy like that I'd probably want to marry him =) I'm weird like that.

My former pet rats,Pink and Floyd, were both out of the same litter, their mom was a solid cream colored, and I'm guessing the father was either a cream hooded or albino, because both Pink and Floyd were cream hooded rats. Each had one ruby eye and one black eye. They unfortunately passed away several years ago. Both were very trainable, too.

I bought a female rat from a pet store. She was tan in color and had one bright red eye and a ruby red eye. I belive it's called lynx eyed, but not sure. Also when she had a litter of 11 pups two of her tan babies had the same colored eyes as she had. Good Luck.
