You're right, but everyone is entitled to a trial before being sentenced, even him! I do think, though, that the trial should have been held in The Hague (like Slobodan Milosevic's). Another unfortunate aspect is that this trial is costing a lot of money; money which would be better spent in helping rebuild the country!

A Democratic Nation must have a Democratic Justice System.

This shows the Iraqis how serious their new leader's intentions are for a new Democratic Society.

With all of the civil unrest right now, it might turn even more ugly if he was convicted quickly and executed right now.

It is a bit of a farce as it has already been decided (By whom I don't know) that he is guilty and therefore the trial makes no iota of difference to the outcome.....but before they execute him they have to make it look like he is being some kind of justice! Which if you take the west justice system he is not! As it states 'He is innocent until proven guilty' If they have already decided his guilt then that is Not justice.......Otherwise O.J.Simpson (For one) would have been convicted!

It may be a good thing for the Iraqi people to excersize their
demons by persuing legal procedings against that maniac.
It's just too bad that they have let it devolve into a circus while
thier judges and prosecutors are being slaughtered.

So the Iraqi People can get justice for all the people that died under his leadership.

I wonder if any one will go on trial for the current situation that has probably caused more deaths and hardship to the country than Saddam ever did...?

Justice must not only be done it must be seen to be done. If he was executed or imprisoned without trial the new government in Iraq would be no better than him

there is no point. Besides you shouldn't b able to put him on trial within his country because he is the legal ruler of that country. It should be held in war crimes court. The whole thing is laughable just like the entire war.

Its a bit of entertainment for the masses. I find his occasional outbursts quite comical.
