I am having cough for almost 2 months now . I met DOC a week back and he gave some medicine including Coscopin syrup .
He said I am having a throat infection .
The cough is not bothering me in the night but once in a while I have this bout of cough that makes me uneasy . Especially my breath also kinda wavers when i get these cough .
At the moment I am having a lil black phlegm as well .
Did anyone have the same situation ? Whats the remedy ?
Iam considering revisiting the DOC .
* To make matters worse , my bad , I drank beer and smoked 2 packets of cigarette the other day . Does that influence the cough ?
I have decided no more cigarettes for some mroe days , beer too i am gonna control .
Pleas help .

Get back to your Dr ASAP. Blood can show up in the mucus as black phlegm, but it also could be from the tar in the cigarette smoke. I am surprised that your Dr did not order a lung xray since you have had this cough for 2 months. I also would suggest that you quit smoking and ask your Dr about the newest stop smoking drug Chantix. It really works I used it to stop smoking. Normally you use it for 90 days, I used it for 6 weeks. It does stop the cravings and withdrawal symptoms.

Yep smoking makes things far worse, and it is very difficult to quit but worth the effort when you are ready.
The cigarette smoke destroys cilia, these little hairs inside the lungs that normally sweep goop up and out of the lungs. So when they are destroyed, goop that could infect you remains instead of being swept out.
I would definitely go back to the doc again, black phlegm is something I would be concerned about. Hope you feel better soon!

how long have you been smoking and how many packs do you consume? when does the cough usually arise? is there a time when it's worse like in the morning? do you have any other signs and symptoms like difficulty of breathing or increase in the rate of your breathing?
my impression is that you have smoker's cough (i'm assuming that you have been smoking for a long time already). nonetheless, i suggest that you visit a pulmonologist (a doctor who specializes on the respiratory system/lungs for further work-ups and diagnosis on your case)
