According to The Buddha -- all suffering is born of desire.

But according to Jean Paul Sartre: "L'enfir c'est les autres." (Hell is other people).

Well bob, as a human being my main cause of suffering is, none- acceptance and lack of surrender to the ever present moment.

Because as a human being i am totally identified with my mind and its content.

This narrows down to, me, mine, I, why and should be's.

Suffering is inevitable, as long as the mind is taken to be, what i am.
Essentially suffering is, not being actual.

Therefore never whole, no matter what always lacking in something, seeking and never finding.
Not knowing and wanting to know.

Building security on sand that can so easily be washed away on the next tide.

Acceptance may point the way out!

In the meantime drift and see.

warmest regards!

Some, very few, are due to our actions, most due to to outside forces like ultra-rich industrists that move they're manufacturing plants to third world countries to save on labour costs so they can pocket more money. The school yard bully is another example. I don't by into this wqhole Steven Covey - Dr.Phil crap that we are the cause of most of our suffering. If someone bullies me or shuts down the place where I work for more money elsewhere it's not of my doing and I am justified in being angery that them. The Covey idea that in the face of advercity you can choose to smile and still be happy is just a lame from of controlling the masses and the asses.

The main cause of our suffering is our own actions of the past. While doing wrong things which hurt other people a person does not want to accept that he has to reap also as he has sown. When his turn for pay back comes he starts shouting why me?

On a grand scale of cause and effect usually the problems are related to what affects our day to day lives which could be anything from getting a parking ticket to being dumped so basically anything we don't like on a personal note will make us suffer............. on a grander scale loss of a loved one, guilt, being homeless and having no money with no way out of the situation at all would be a constant suffering..

all our sufferings come when things come out in a way we don't like ,or don't expect it to come that way,
and it all depend on our knowledge of reason and cause,
if we know that most of what happens to us (suffering) is only a result of what we do, and it is a consequence of what we do most of the time,
if you say, well: some times what we suffer is a result of what others do, I would say: yes, but ask you a question: why did others do this act which caused us to suffer?
the answer is as a reaction to what we did,
except in rare cases when others do it because they are criminals (those who love to do harm to others),
again I would ask a question: why did they become criminals?
I think it is because of us all, we motivated them to become as such,
we didn't give enough attention to morals, love, and care towards others, and this caused a problem in the whole society, which resulted in a lot of sufferings to many people

The main course of our personal suffering is in not accepting what we have, and thinking more of what we do not have. The, 'I want what he/she's got' syndrome. Once you sink into envy, you're suffering. Once you see other's suffering who have less than you, you're at risk of suffering from greed (because you don't want to help those less fortunate than yourself).
Forget your own suffering, be thankful for what you have. Be satisfied with your lot.

It is the inability to part in the general sense of the word - that is saying goodbye to pieces of ourselves, objects that had an emotional value, places where we lived, people we loved, our childhood and eventually...to life. The agony of separation and the need to cling to what we had instead of letting go is the main cause of our suffering.

guy. Mankind is inherently evil and self serving. we are our very own worst enemy. despite if we did no longer have Racial, Social, reasonably priced, or non secular divides i've got faith there would nonetheless be suffering in the international. so as to end suffering we could substitute who we are. on the grounds that that's impossible suffering will in no way quit until mankind is removed from the international.

Religion and ignorance most of the time. Religion can help many on the small scale but causes far worst suffering on the larger scale.

Human beings have conflicting ideas causing apathy. If there are pros, there are always cons. It's human nature, they can agree today but the next day they can disagree. God suffered for us because of our sins. Sufferings lead us to act for good and someday humans can live peacefully and harmoniously.
