Get a steam cleaner, and keep hoovering!
Clean out your wardrobes, and your soft furnishings too; anywhere they might be hiding. And get some mothballs.

buy naphtalene crystals and spread over carpet. If you have any other woollen upholstery/furnishings they need to be treated as well. There is a spray you can buy with a dispenser which is quite expensive but it does send out measured doses into the room, I think the recommended time to spray is 24 - 48 hrs. Will find out name of spray and will post on here. This is used in all the national trust houses whenever they have problems. Good luck. If you have rugs on top of this carpet, give them a good hoovering and them wrap in plastic and put in freezer for 5 days as this will kill the eggs/moths in them. Clean well before replacing.

I cant help with the eggs in the carpet part but putting citronella oil around your window frame will stop them coming in as they don't like the smell. I know you can buy it from most fishing shops. Also, make sure you don't leave the lights on in a room where the windows are open, the moths go for the lights. Good luck!

I would say throw it out, unless you want to put cedar chips all over your carpet or moth balls.
Good Luck

you could get your carpet professionally cleaned by steam cleaning it. Then spray it with the flea spray you can buy from pet shops, it inhibits the eggs and stops them from hatching. It's quite expensive at around 11.99 a can but it does the whole house if you need it to.
