You can separate the sulfonic acid from its salt by extracting between an organic solvent which will dissolve the sulfonic acid and water which will dissolve the salt.

If you need TLC to separate the two compounds a mobile phase containing fairly polar solvents like dichloromethane and methanol may be needed to move the acid while the salt will remain at the origin.
