Come on liberals, you can spin this a bad way, I have faith in you.
About 15,000 hurricane evacuee families threatened with potential homelessness in Houston will continue to receive federal housing assistance through February, officials said Thursday.
(My bigger question is why are these people still needing assistance, they have had more than enough time to stand up, get a job and move on with life. I say give them til February, then send them to tent camps in death valley.)

farah, with all the job fairs they have held. Don't insult my intelligence with that drivel. They had employers lined up with jobs and training to do them starting at 17 - 20 bucks an hour. These families that are left are the lazy leeches that were leeches in NO and will die a leech.

I agree with you to a point. But these are the poorest people who could only get minimum wage jobs. Even if they went to work for say McDonald's or Walmart, this isn't enough money to live on, unless there are two parents in the family, and that's just a paycheck to paycheck job.
I believe job training to advance their situations was made available to them, and I do agree that they should have taken it if it was. But then, who provides child care to single parents?
Poverty cycles from generation to generation. I don't agree that the U.S.should be providing them with indefinite homes, but they should at least provide child care vouchers or some sort of training so these people can help themselves.

Many people have moved on and gotten work and homes. I think the ones that haven't don't have the ability to do so because they weren't living well to begin with. Plus having lost every single thing you own, pictures, clothes, pets, family heirlooms, etc. can make one very depressed. A being depressed make it harder to move on. I think it's good that FEMA is still helping, considering their didn't help right away when they should have. I just hope that these aren't people that are "milking" the system and that they truly have tried and still need some more time.
My question to you is - With FEMA still helping these people, how does this make Pres. Bush evil? I personally think that your statement of sending these people to Death Valley with tents is an evil statement. Put yourself in their shoes and see how well you would do after having survived through a horrible hurricane and having lost everything that you've owned and have no one to help you.

Did insurance cover all the lost homes for the people who were lucky enough to begin to even BUY a home???
If insurance doesn't pay for your destroyed home and busines don't you STILL have to pay for it...?
losing everything you've worked for... sounds pretty messed up and depressing to me.
Last time I checked they weren't living in condos... they lived in tiny little trailers... and a lot of people have two parents and some kids stuffed in there... doesnt sound like a situation anyone would want to continue in if they could help it.
If the "Evil bush government" had shelled out the cash to make adequate improvements to the levees when it was requested they wouldn't have to shell out all this cash anyways.

Of course he would help out the bums.
A lot of nice politics happens close to elections.
Now ask yourself this: Why would the feds only give money to a city in Texas? There are evacuee's all over the US. I understand that a large share of them is in Houston, but it sounds like a Texas buddy system at work here.
As for the evacuee's themselves, there are going to be those who will continue to keep their hands out as long as you keep providing hand outs. If Houston really wants them to move on, stop providing hand outs.
Do we learn nothing from the critters of the wild, like cats and racoons. Feed them, and they come back. Don't feed them and they go begging somewhere else.

With the poor economy, there are not enough jobs to go around. What jobs are available, are minimum wage and will not support one person, let alone a family. How do you know how much is needed for a family to relocate, buy everything for a household, and get working again. Its different for everyone.

Sounds obvious that maybe you've never lost a house and everything that is valuable to you. What if they are still depressed and find it tough to move on with life from losing loved ones. I think you are being too insincere. I say good day.
