NO
It's spam and if you reply you will find that they want money from you to access your "winnings"
EDIT
While this is a scam Anthony P is wrong in saying the UK lottery never e-mail anyone to say they have won.
They DO, but only if you put your lottery on ON-LINE, and all the e-mail says is that they have "exciting news about your ticket".
You still have to log into your account to find out what you have won.
I should know, Ido my lottery on-line and have had several of these - unfortunately never a big prize though

No! You can go to the National Lottery site and check the numbers. But it's what is usually called the Nigeria scam! I've given you a link to superhighway. Look at that site and get the phone number of the chief of police - and reply to the email telling them to phone your bank on that number! I know it cruel - but they are trying to do the advance fee number on you. You try to claim your prize and they ask for an advanced fee to egt the money transfered. I've forgotten the URL of National lottery - but just go to my site and there is a link on the "links" page to the UK National Lottery. Incidentally, they run loads of games. The original lottery is now called Lotto and drawn on Saturday and Wednesday. Thunderball is drawn on Saturday - then Euromillions is the European Lottery and is drawn tonight - on a Friday. If you see a free share in a lotto draw on my website in the future - that isn't a scam - email your claim - you could win some money. But never give your bank details to anyone or part with cash.I will probably do a lottery thing on my site - where you win a share if the numbers come up. That kind of thing can be OK - you win just for paying a visit to the site - if the numbers come up. It only costs me £1 to buy a ticket and you just go to the official site to check see if the numbers came up and then claim your share. That is OK. Anything from Africa is a scam! They can't even buy a ticket for the UK Lottery legally - neither can you - but you can get a share in one.

All of those sites are scams! They usually want your personal info and some money to send you money. Not to mention, you should NEVER open an e mail that you do not recognize. It can unleash a nasty virus into your computer system. And then, your computer can crash, and you are screwed. If it sounds too good to be true, it is.! Play the lottery instead!!!!! Good Luck:] Contact the better business in your area and report them.

no no absolutly no!! Its a scam. The UK lottery will NEVER tell you that youve won by email. 1. They dont do an email draw. 2. when you buy a ticket, they dont have your email. 3. Its up to you to claim the prize by going to the shop showing htem your ticket and saying 'oi gimmie my money!'
There you go, 3 flaws in the scam

No, this sounds like a scam. Generally speaking, if you didn't enter a competition then you haven't won a prize. As a former member of Barclays Bank's staff, I am sure they wouldn't get involved like that.

Are you retarded? Of course it's a scam. Why would someone just give you money for having an email address? People stupid enough to even think about these scams being real deserve everything they get (which isn't millions of pounds, it's ripped off!).

with the national lottery (Lotto) you have to claim yourself, unless you bought your ticket online and you will get an email telling you to check your account. if you do not have an account with the national lottery then it is a scam. it sounds like it as they would never transfer money to South Africa!

I win several lotteries a day thanks to internet scams. It is 100% a scam, i promise. The next thing they will do is ask for your bank account details. Hey presto, they have all the info they need to commit identity theft.
Don't even answer these emails. Delete them and upgrade your spam filter.
