Image means everything to some shallow people in the UK, it is fuelled by watching "celebs" being worshipped for absolutely nothing. They tend to look good because they have the time and money to pamper themselves and go to the Gym, the people who aspire to these ideals don't have the time to "work out" so they take steroids to quicken the process. They are sad.

In the UK steroids only became illegal in the past ten years. Previously a person could discuss them with the GP and also knew what was in a product. Now they are illegal - class c I think, they are underground and nobody knows where they are made and the quality of them.
People should have a regular Liver function test whilst taking them.
People still take them because like anything else risky in life, they feel that the benefits outweigh the risk.

It's a fast track to muscle development and that could be for various reasons such as peer pressure etc.

It's probably easier on the black market than from the GP who I very much doubt would perscribe them to a healthy person.

They take them to help build muscle which they think makes them look good. If taken to the extreme they look bloody ridiculous but won't admit it, and in all cases, the muscle that REALLY matters becomes shrivelled and almost useless, so they might LOOK good (to themselves) but it doesn't REALLY do anything to make them more attractive which, I would have thought, was the whole point of the exercise!!!
