Denial? I don't know, but it must be stopped.

I think it's because they want to wear what's in fashion and don't think about what's flattering for their body type. They don't realise that low-cut jeans really only look good on someone with a flat tummy and no back fat! But since the clothing designers make these clothes in all sizes, larger girls figure, "Well it's my size and it fits, so I can wear it!"
I am speaking from experience, I'm a bit on the chubby side and recently tried on a pair of jeans at H&M. They fit fine, but were cut quite low and my tummy hung over the front and sides. I immediately took them off and realized that I could never be seen in public with those things on!!! I continued my search and eventually found a nice pair of jeans that fit me and flattered my fuller figure! I think more women need to be doing this before they leave the dressing room!!

Because manufacturers don't know how to make jeans that fit properly! Even thin women wear jeans that look horrible, you just don't notice it as much! Levi's...listen UP! The short tops? Try to buy a long top nowadays, you have to hunt all over the store for one! Gosh, doesn't anyone care what women look like any more? Get the manufacturer's alerted to what women need and maybe things like this will improve!

I don't know why a lot of people wear some of the things that they do, not just the overweight women. I can say this, I have a friend who is a size 18, and it is hard to find descent clothes in that size. Most clothes look like they are made either for teenagers, or the elderly.

because for some bizzarre reason they are only making jeans these days in the hipster style which means they are meant for young-uns to show off their chav g-string. Finding jeans that actually hold in your tummy rather than creating the hideous muffin-top is almost impossible. Even M&S jumped on the bandwagon. Similarly it is almost impossible to find t-shirts that cover up the tummy. My solution is to avoid jeans and stick to trousers that actually go on the waist, wear hold-in pants and a crisp white blouse which you don't tuck in. I agree, the muffin-top look is not a pretty sight.

oooh.... wicked!
guess they feel comfortable or they wouldn't wear the clothes..
Might be hard to find jeans to fit, I suppose. What is wrong with short tops? Why shouldn't they wear whatever tops they like?
I am a size 8-10 and I don't wear short tops, but if I felt comfortable I would. Nothing to do with my size...

I don't know, except that as hard as it is for regular size women to find jeans, its 3x as hard for large size women to find jeans and they have 1/3 the choices of where to shop. We all have to wear what they have in the shops, and some years its too skimpy even for the scrawny. And I don't like looking at some skinny girl ribs or protruding hipbones. I mean, get a hamburger.

They must have magic mirrors at home that make them look slim and all their bulge is not spilling over the top of their jeans. The thing is if they dressed for their size they could look slimmer by wearing the correct clothes. Will they ever learn?

Self Denial - a mental problem that causes the person in question to feel disgusted/guilty/upset about their size. Mainly due to the pressure of the media with skinny celebs, the trendy stuff isn';t always available to larger sized women which is why they force themselves into smaller clothes.
