I am starting a new job on Monday. I haven't worked for just over a year following major spinal surgery and having to learn to walk again. I'm so pleased I've got this far, but I think I've lost all my confidence in my ability to be a 'normal' working person and I'm getting jelly babies in my tummy just thinking about Monday morning...eek!

Your having a normal reaction to facing the Public - Read a motivational book, and remember you are as good as anyone else if not better. Keep your chin up- and don't worry about Imagined problems, deal with any that come up, one at a time, I don't know you, but I am proud of you anyway, for making it back to being able to work, many people will feel the same way- dig in and go to work.

Don't worry about it. After what you have been through, and having to learn to walk again, shows you have the ability to do whatever you want to do.

Starting a new new job is always a nervous time, new people to meet, new job to learn, but you've already been through more than most of has ever been through, and recovered. The rest is going to be easy.

Judging by the responses you've got everyone's on your side so don't worry about it, everything will be fine.

good luck and well done!!!!! You need to see what you have achieved and that is so incredible, the employers wouldn't have hired you if you couldn't do it! Just go for it, being nervous is a good sign that you are keen and want to do well, I wish you all the best. Use what has happened to you advantage and learn from it, it sounds like you are a determined person because of this, and that you wanted a job and no you have one! Well done, try not to take notice of the pressure.

Well done for getting where you are, The first 10 - 15 mins will be scary for any one. Think of me starting my new job, I must have gone to the loo for about the15th time, when I came back from the toilet I had toilet roll hanging from every where, I was so embarrassed It was the office joke for months. Don't worry and good luck , you have done the hard work overcoming your surgery and recovery.

your strength of chrachter shines through even it that little snippet of your life. If you can overcome a spinal injury and learn to walk again in such short period of time then what are you worried about. The thing to remember is that you are going to be asked questions about what happened so if it was a bad experience make sure you mentally prepare yourself to answer questions.

sounds like you've already done the hard bit. Why worry about work?

Well done for getting yourself back to this position. I'm sure others would have given up long before.

Good luck on Monday
