Let x be the original Price.
New price =x - discounted cost
but New Price =$120
percentage of discount = 20%
Solving for x
x = New Price + discounted cost
x = $120 + 20%(x)
x - .2x = $120
0.8x = $120
x = $120/0.8
x = $ 150 --- answer
(Note: 20% = 0.2 in decimal, thus 1-0.2 = 0.8)

10% would be 12$
20% 24$
30% 36$
40% 48$
50% 60$

so add the total of the suit which was 120$. + 24= 144$

This may help you when your trying to figure out the percentage on tipping, This is how i figure out to tip.. so if meal was 155$ and i only wnate to tip ten percent i would leve a tip of 15.50 cents.. for 15$ i would leave 23.25.. for 20% i would leave 31.00 ..

Think of the numbers. $120.00 is now 80% of the original price.

If we divide $120 by 80%, 120/.80 = ?? Result.

You can prove it two ways. Multiply the result by 80% and it will be $120.00.

Or, multiply the result by 20%, and deduct it from the result=$120.
