You will need to put all this into your own words, as I have cut and pasted from Wiki - and that is plagiarism: a definite no-no!

The Cuban Missile Crisis was a confrontation during the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States regarding the Soviet deployment of nuclear missiles in Cuba. The missiles were ostensibly placed to protect Cuba from further planned attacks from the United States after the failed Bay of Pigs invasion, and were rationalized by the Soviets as retaliation for the U.S. placing deployable nuclear warheads in the United Kingdom, Italy and most significantly, Turkey. The crisis began on October 16, 1962, when U.S. reconnaissance data revealing Soviet nuclear missile installations on the island were shown to U.S. President John F. Kennedy, and ended twelve days later on October 28, 1962, when Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev announced that the installations would be dismantled. The Cuban Missile Crisis is regarded as the moment when the Cold War came closest to escalating into a nuclear war. Russians refer to the event as the "Caribbean Crisis," while Cubans refer to it as the "October Crisis."

For a good paragraph: .....
A good paragraph starts with a topic sentence.... describe exactly what you are going to say in the paragraph... you might want to do this last....
The middle of the paragraph addresses the topic in the topic sentence above, not the issue, the topic. make sure every sentence here answers or addresses the topic sentence or else it is probably irrelevant or out of place. keep it on the same subject, your topic sentence, or else you should be creating more paragraphs.....
then tie it off at the end with a linking statement back to the topic sentence... this could be the a summation or the topic sentence reworded or a generic sentence linking to the topic sentence and the issue...

as for your content.... something bold and controversial is always fun but a strong argument is usually adequate....

You need to include a bit of Cuban history. Why did they choose the Soviets as buddies? Why did the Americans object to missiles in Cuba? You need to look at how the US found the missiles, how they blockaded shipping and the eventual deal that brought about the end of the crissis. You could also include the populations reaction and the rise in fall out shelter sales.

Would help if you explained what sort of assessment it is... Are you a student in politic affairs or a GCSE level?
The whole thing is simple anyway!
America was thinking Cuba would be a good military base. Cuba, wasn't too pleased, the Russian assisted, and like every war the US has been involved since 1945, they ended up having to go home tails between their legs..

Once upon a time there was a country call Cuba, it was a very naughty country with lots of bad people in it. The good guys (the Americana's) decided that the bad guys were up to something, so they did some stuff and caused a big hullabaloo. Then it all went quiet and everybody lived happily ever after.

If it is only one paragraph, then stick to the facts. Pick out the key events and focus on those. Make sure it goes in date order!
