I live in South Africa and just wanted to know what you people out there think of it?

Every knob who thinks they know what South Africa is all about always pulls that old granny www.crimexposouthafrica.org out the hat and goes "See, South Africa is crap!"

Funny how the South Africa I live in doesn't look like that. Even funnier is how everyone who complains about South Africa being soooooo bad doesn't live here.

Some idiot is going to jump out of the woodwork after I've put this up saying something like "JUST OPEN YOU EYES!" or "Just wait till someone rapes your daughter." or "If you lived in South Africa, you wouldn't say things like that." Someone will obviously also say that I am in DENIAL and am not a REALIST. Which finger am I holding up?

Well, I live in South Africa. There are problems we have to face as an emerging democracy (which some smart @ss will refute by calling it a kleptocracy), which every emerging democracy has had to deal with. Crime is an issue but it not the warzone false prophets make it out to be.

Since when did a negative action based on a negative idea who's purpose is to promote a negative image of a country EVER change anything. Show me an example in history where negativity resulted in a positive change and I will eat my words.

I love this country and for those who wish to flee and not be a part of this country's rebuilding - so be it. Enjoy the "greener" grass.

South Africa is a beautiful country, with a wonderful and fascinating populace. It is rich in mineral reserves and has a dark recent history hanging over it.
That history will continue to haunt South Africa for as long as the criminals, terrorists and thugs in the ANC can milk it as a tool to stay in power.

The National Party took power in 1948 and held onto it until '94. The ANC is the National Party in black, minus the law, order, public facilities, working health system, working infrastructure, dominant military, viable economy and semblance of first world norms.

However, a recent answer to one of my questions, by a 17 year old young man, made me realise something. The old, embittered generation - on both sides - is dying off, and being replaced by a younger one, that is growing up in a different world.

Hopefully, that generation can realise the futility of holding onto the past - and work to make the wonderful land they live in the paradise it can be.

I LIVED in South Africa for over 10 years. I know you won't like my answer but I'm SOOOOOOOO glad to be out of there, and I would sooner go to the North Pole to live and back to that place!

Face facts the place is hell compared to what it used to be. What with the ANC in power, the crime, the corruption, the transport system (the trains that haven't been burned out, the taxis), everything's overpriced and lacks quality. It will only ever get worse there. You should also get out while you can before you get killed by a gang or raped or both.

We both have lived in SA so you know what I'm talking about is true but there's also a chance your a "Proudly (new) South African" which means you'll call me racist and a lover of Apartheid!

Tot siens!
