Are bacteria beings? (they think, therefore they are?)
There are those who theorize life on earth was seeded by life brought in by asteroids. If that is true then some of those must have hit the moon too, so perhaps the first lunerites were cosmic bacteria.
If you discount bacteria, both terrestrial and non-, then Neil Armstrong was the first. (actually,Armstrong and Aldrin landed at the same time. If you change the question to "the first living thing to walk on the moon" we can eliminate bacteria and Aldrin and safely name Armstrong.)

The first *confirmed* record of Earth life landing on the Moon (I'm not getting into the "panspermia theory" others have raised here) was a colony of bacteria recovered from the United States Surveyor 3 probe on Nov. 12, 1969. (Source 1.)
Surveyor 3, as detailed here, landed on the Moon April 20, 1967. That colony of bacteria endured over three years of hard vacuum and intense radiation, not to mention no food or water.

'Loo' has insulted the whole population of the UK by saying the English don't believe that anyone actually landed on the moon. This isn't true... is it? Neil Armstrong was the first living being to land on the moon. Anyone who disputes this is an idiot.

Well the first living thing sent into space was a Russian dog named Laika. After the mission was a success the russians sent the first man into outer space Yuri Gagarin. These 2 living things are the pioneers of space but neither of them actually landed on the moon, their mission was just to circle, observe and take pictures of Earth. And yes in theory without taking account of the conspiracy theory regarding who were the first countries to reach the moon(RUSSIA or USA), the first living thing to set foot on the moon is Neil Armstrong!

Hi. I think the first living thing was Neil Armstrong...but they must have sent a few unmanned rockets to the moon. So its quite possible that some organism ended up there first.

There was probably some bacteria on the Luna 2 probe that smacked into the moon on September 13, 1959.

Neil Armstrong was the first person and first living organism to walk on the moon. No other inhabitied craft (by man or beast) were sent to land on the moon prior to this.
