My mother was very superstitious. There were many of them that she lived by faithfully...making sure to go out the same door you came in, never cross a black cats path, don't walk under a ladder, never leave the house on Friday the 13th, the spilled salt thing you mentioned, don't walk with one shoe on and one shoe off, only pick a penny up off the ground if it is on heads, there are more I just can't remember them all. I believe in some of them, but I think it is more conditioning than believing.

I do toss salt over my shoulder if I spill it, and while I'm not overly superstitious about Friday the 13th, we did change the closing date for our house in January to Thursday the 12th - why take chances? ;)
Other superstitions - I touch the nose of the Lucky Cat at the sushi restaurant, and the post on the bridge at the Ren Faire. I knock on wood. I say "bread and butter" if I go on the opposite side of a post from someone. There are probably other things that started out as superstitions that have been woven into the fabric of my daily life to the point where I don't even recognize them anymore.

I believe in superstitions of my own creation, not those you mentioned.
For instance, if I'm driving through a construction area with two barricades on either side of me, and wondering how an ambulance will get past me if they need to go through the same barricaded area, and then a few moments later, I hear an ambulance and it comes barreling down the highway up till the point of the barricaded area and has to drive behind people till they are out of that area, then I will most likely think it was some type of thing other than coincidence leading me to think of an ambulance in the first place and I'll be a tiny bit spooked for a moment.

I am superstitious but not with the things listed. I will use salt but mainly to clean out my house or even bathe, if i feel that things aren't going right.
I never cross over anyone. I always wash my hands as soon as i reach home.
I never sweep out my house when its after six in the evening cause i do not want any poverty to come in. If anyone sweeps my foot with a broom i through salt on it immediately to ensure that i get married. When i am menstruating i do not comb anybodies hair for fear that it may start to fall out.
These are just a few of the things regarding my superstitions.
Most importantly, i always listen to my intuitive sense.

I think I'll be okay even if it is FRIDAY the 13th- I am having a bit of trouble typing with my fingers crossed but the lucky penny in my shoe and the garlic clove around my neck seem to be doing is stuff so no not really!
