i'm so glad u can admit that u sound terrible singin out loud - so many ppl cant admit it and those are the dissillusioned ppl who turn up on our tv screens every sat night so we can laugh at them. maybe we just hear someone elses voice in our head thinking that that is what we would sound like if we open our mouths and sing. its best off just to mouth along the words to a song that playin really loud that way no one can tell!

You're lucky. I can't even sing in my head! I love going to karaoke but I just wouldn't dream of getting up and singing. Why don't some people realise they just can't sing and yet they have to put up with Simon Cowells harsh words. Why do they audition for such programmes?

As a child, I was the only kid not allowed to sing in the class choir, however, I did get to work the tape recorder thingie - so was well pleased. I am tone deaf and so are my brothers. If you need anyone to clear a room, I am available for hire!!!!!

maybe because people get carried away that they can be as perfect as can be that they forgot about their voice... or maybe because they're paying more attention to the song.. or they are thinking too much about the singer's voice [in the song] instead of their voice.. for me, i don't really sound like a cat being murdered when i sing... =)

You think that's weird, I sound totally different when I hear myself sing on a video. And I don't sound so hot to begin with.
In my head I rock.
In the car I screech.
On video I suck.

The same reason that when you are at home messing around with the children you sound fine, but at school parent assembly your throat closes up.
Nerves.
