I find this really sad. A perfectly good festival is being spoilt and there is no need for it. I think the problem is that today's fireworks are far too powerful, sound like mortars and nearly blow the house down. I think these should only be available for public displays and tight restrictions placed upon them.
I think that traditional fireworks such as Roman Candles, Rockets and Catherine Wheels should continue to be sold as before but only to people who are old enough to use them responsibly. When we were little, my dad took strict control of the fireworks and we were made to stand well back before he would light them. I think this is a perfectly good arrangement.

Fireworks have been illegal in Ireland for over a century, but we've never had problems getting our hands on them. There has been a crackdown in the last few years on the black market trade. Now sellers ask you to come with them to a nearby flat or house to buy them instead of conducting business in the street like they used to.

It worked in Australia, but then again they banned it everywhere but left it as legal in the national capital (like so many other things). All it means is you buy them legally but set them off illegally. Generally speaking though, after the first few years of uproar and stupidity no one really bothered.

sure.!!! We actual pay attention oftentimes approximately extra advantageous firework use and persons that think of this is relaxing to harass and attempt to harm others with those deadly, 'felony' explosives. Pets besides as human beings are many times the unwilling sufferers of firework misuse. With extra advantageous use of fireworks and what seems to be, extra advantageous accessibility of being waiting to purchase the products over the keep counter or illegally contained in the direction of the 'black industry', i think of this occasion is turning out to be the 'felony' explosive possibility of the united kingdom at present. Anti-social behaviour oftentimes comes the misuse of fireworks, the two interior interior sight communities and on person's very own homes. Fireworks getting used as weapons to be hurled like hand grenades on the streets of england look primary those days. We purely might desire to tutor on the information, investigate the internet or interior the newspapers to be certain those sorts of activities very almost on a daily basis. what number extra tragedies does it take to improve the firework problem from our society? no longer purely do the adults, toddlers and youth in our communities might desire to take accountability for this problem, that's for the regulation makers to additionally study heavily. the government and police forces might desire to actively address the firework problem, and proactively handle this explosive situation as quickly as and for all. some youth, toddlers or adults that think of this is humorous to 'lob' a banger right into a backyard, tie a roman candle to a cat, throw a rocket at a passing vehicle or pedestrian or maybe ignite a firework by using a letterbox. some can use fireworks carelessly of their gardens and homes to harass their neighbours, with repetitive loud bangs and wallops. they think of this is hilarious to inflict yet extra noise harm and trauma on their sufferers. nicely, i do no longer think of this is hilarious, i do no longer think of this is humorous and that i think of this is approximately time this public problem became extinguished, completely.!!!!!!!

Hi Ant
I totally agree with you on that one, Firework should be a no go. Yes sell them to adults for Halloween, but we listen to them from August till Christmas. Mine dog is terrified of them. So its not fair on them either

A ban on anything will quickly give rise to black market activity, which the government will be the loser, because of lost tax revenue.

It's a centuries old tradition, it's great fun and if people want to be moronic and mis-use them and blow themselves up that's their fault. Should we have a ban on cars too, since they are far more irresponsible car owners?
