Wisdom and purpose?
More than anything, it's your philosophy that gives you direction in everyday life keeping in view the destination you choose.

I'm very pragmatic, but I think philosophy also brings discernment.
Philosophy helps me understanding why some things happen in a certain way... or why some people act in certain way. It's all about the why's...

Answers to questions I ask; resolutions to confusions I've had; an understanding of my environment at a different level than just using my five senses; experiences I've never dreamed of, such as seeing intelligence in almost everything around me (except politicians); my studies in Philosophy have helped me to pull together all the loose strings I found in all my other studies. I don't subscribe to anyone philosophy, but philosophical thought brings clarity and enlighten in my life. I have a strong code of athetics that's based on love and respect of my fellow humans. My ethics are not situational like those of many I know.

Your innate philosophy is how you 'see' your everyday life. Thus what you see and believe is your 'life'. Officially, I am not qualified to answer, but .. if you believe people are basically good, but inconsistent, you might think that telling someone personal info will not turn it into gossip that can hurt you.
