I agree, I personally hate a certain department store's "where is your mother" commercial. While it may be true that fathers are USUALLY not the primary care givers most are very capable to take care of their children for an afternoon and many dads I know are better parents then the moms.(going get some thumbs down for that comment I am sure.)

I like you. I've been saying this stuff EXACTLY since I was 6. I'm sixteen now, and its only gotten worse. Every single time I turn on the tv some man is getting kicked in the groin, or being told hes an idiot, or making a mistake as a father, etc. while the woman is perfect as can be. I no longer watch tv or go to the movies. I get to angry. Way...way too angry. Society sucks.

I agree with you completely. Have you ever watched "That '70's Show"? How many times has the 'Jackie' character kicked, pinched, slapped, shoved, or otherwise been violent with her various partners? Violence against intimate partners is unacceptable, regardless of gender. It's not funny, and I question the sanity of those who DO find domestic violence funny.
What gets me, though, are commercials. Why is it that men are so frequently shown as being complete incompetents when it comes to anything to do with the home. Men can't cook, men can't clean, and oh my god, men are so freakin' stupid they can't even change a diaper!
I think Gloria Stein(?) said that if we wanted to see if something was sexist we should switch the genders. I think that if violence against women was used as a comedic device, heads would roll. And for all those twits who claim "well, now you know how women felt all those years".... horsesh!t. It was wrong then, it's wrong now.

TV is generally fantasy anyway...men and women both are portrayed in ways that are unrealistic....it's supposed to be 'entertainment'...if tv were JUST like actual life, who would bother to watch it? We already live that day to day...so tv accentuates some things, overplays them, makes serious things goofy and goofy things serious...
Women could (and probably do) complain about being portrayed as sex objects, ditzy and helpless, etc etc etc because that's how many tv shows portray them...plenty of shows don't make guys out to be punching bags and women to be shrews...perhaps you simply need to watch some different programs...
...or turn off the tv and turn to something else, more entertaining for you, instead :)

I agree. I have an example to back it up: have you ever seen the comedy "There's Something About Mary"? Well, there's a scene there where a character gets jail raped (the actual incident was not shown, but clearly implied) -- it was made to look funny, and the audience roared with laughter at that scene. If the character involved was female, it would be disturbing. That's just one of the many, many examples of how men being debased is fine

Actually, TV does disrespect men, but movies don't. In TV, men are incompetent, silly, immature, etc... In movies, men are strong, very competent, heroes, dynamic, virtuous, valiant, funny, etc..
Don't feel too bad, though. In both TV and movies, women are sex toys. They have it worse. Even in shows where the husband is a screw-up, he still gets the foxy woman in bed.

Everyones insecure in spite of gender its in simple terms the human condition. As for the justifications why human beings like programmes set interior the previous its because of the fact it reminds them of a time whilst each little thing of their existence regarded user-friendly, a time without conflict, or political unrest or the credit cruch or mass unemployment etc. each little thing consistently seems greater effectual once you look lower back at it no count if it become or not, and with the diffcult cases anybody is having on the 2d ofcourse human beings will look lower back at cases whilst issues regarded greater effectual. As for television, theirs lots of stuff thats sexist too adult men too so it is going the two techniques. yet my ingredient is i dont think of those unfashionable shows have become standard for the reason she claims, i think of its in simple terms one thing that occurs in confusing cases,

tv does it all. look at adventure show when the guy is the hero. tv shows us it all for the chance to sell us something and educate us and entertain us. Man is the kingpin and as so is the target like king of the hill. who ever is on top must be taken down and out till the new king is in place and someone else feels the need to take him out. there is always someone out there looking to take who ever is in power out for some reason. tv generally shows wut sells rare cases like Parliament shows of politicians that have low rating show cause some idiot in power (goverment) like to think we want to see it
