You figure, with humans, it would be less likely - since most pregnancies result in a single infant. However, in a situation where a female conceived with multiple males in a brief timeframe, could you have a case where you get a set of fraternal twins, with each having the genetic contributions of a separate father? Or is there something about human genetics that wouldn't allow for this?

Disclaimer : I'm obviously not saying it would be wise for a woman to procreate with multiple partners in such a manner that I'm describing above. I intend the question to be one of those "in theory" sorts of scenarios.

I was just thinking - if it were possible, just think of all the fun they could have with it on a daytime soap opera. I could imagine them interjecting fraternal triplets into the plot, each one with a different dad.

I saw this on a talk show once,so I did some research. It is possible, but not probable, for this to happen. If a woman releases 2 eggs in a cycle (possible, my mom has done it at least 3 times, resulting in twins...how do people think we get fraternal twins? TWO EGGS) If a woman has sex with 2 different people within 24 hours (and it would have to be that short a time span), then both men's sperm could fertilize an egg.
Possible, but rare.

Actually I´m not sure, but I´ve never heard that this would be true for cats... But for snakes the situation described above is true. How ever this is not possible for humas.
When a woman gets pregnant the body goes through a lot of changes (e.g. hormonal, physical) and one response is that she can´t get pregnant again until a while after the labour.
This is because the eggcell, which is needed for conceving, will not get to the right place in the body of the woman (and will therefore not meet the sperm) when the women is pregnant already.

Ok I seem to remember watching a tv documentary years ago about a woman who did have twins to different men. She'd slept with both men on the same day and she had released two eggs or something like that. But that was a one off documented case! Not something that is very likely to happen ever again.

It is only possible that this could happen in one scenario:
If (and only IF) 2 eggs were to ovulate at once, and you had sex with two partners. This would create the concept of "non-identical twins". Safe to say, you have much better odds of winning the lottery, hitting a massive jackpot, and not being audited by the IRS--all in one day.

No, you release one egg at a time, which can then split to form twins, after it has been inseminated. So, it is impossible.
