well i was watching some videos of booming economies for this academic decathlon class, in particular our theme this year is china. in the video all we saw were what you just mentioned, a computer person (architect) that acan generate realistic photos using 3d software. so for sure, these architects that work closely with building a greener china have jobs all the time. my idea of the job is you end up proposing ways to design and manage a building for apartments or for a hospital...depends on what kind of engineering you are familiar with. but yes, you can design the exteriors/interiors of energy efficient and water efficient structures (this is BIG), and only architects know how to do that!

The job that makes you the happiest is the best job and only you can decide that for yourself. If you only balance work on money, hours etc you'll be sadly disappointed. Ask yourself what do you want to do and go do it!
