Im looking for a flat in london, and my budget means most of what is available is ex-council. iv been to see quite a few, about 20, and the communal areas (entrance and stairwell) all stink of piss. Does anyone know why? Surely people dont actually piss there.

And over-boiled cabbage!
People must continually piss themselves whilst walking up to the 20th floor because the lifts have broken!

People who live there tend to be at the bottom end of the social spectrum. These people have a greater spontaneous urge to piss in public places. That is why council flats stink of piss.

get a bigger budget or a better property agent that will show you flats with stairwells that dont stink of piss the reason the stairwells are full of piss is the tennants take this piss of people that are up themselves and throw it against the wall!!

It's standard practise for all the nonces to piss anywhere they think fit - just look inside your average lift in a council block. Note I said Look, not Ride - most of them don't work either because they've been vandalised - by the people who piss in them, oddly enough!

Knowing right from wrong would help them but they are to lazy to even get themselves to a toilet let alone seek enlightment of the world we all live in!! So, YES! They do piss there. Try getting a flat at the top!

Yes they do because there is a distinct lack of caretaking it should be an everyday occurance but they don't do this at all. If you live in these properties then you could get a hose and wash it down yourself.

Becuase people that buy those sought of places are grim and piss up the walls ..... i wouldnt bother, i know your a bit strapped for cash but wait for something better... Standards man!

Because of your price bracket your probably being sent to look at ones where they shove the scum and they all ming of pish !! Try to see if you can spend more money or share with someone !! Failing that...........vicks rubbed under the nose will work a treat x

Yes they do, normally after drinking too much and not being able to make it up the stairs home in time cos the lift isn't working!

There seems to be a pattern forming here. Do they smell if piss a few seconds after you arrive? Maybe you should consider getting a wash.
