Ottawa is the capital of Canada and the country's fourth largest city. It is located in the Ottawa Valley on the eastern edge of the province of Ontario, 400 kilometres (250 mi) east of Toronto and 190 kilometres (120 mi) west of Montreal. Ottawa lies on the banks of the Ottawa River, a major waterway that forms the border between Ontario and Quebec.
Unlike the United States, Brazil, the People's Republic of China, Mexico, and Australia, Canada has no federal capital district; Ottawa is a municipality within the Province of Ontario. Although it does not constitute a separate administrative district, Ottawa is part of the officially-designated National Capital Region, which includes the neighbouring Quebec municipality of Gatineau.
In 2005 the population of Ottawa was estimated at 859,704, while the population of the larger Census Metropolitan Area was estimated at 1,148,785[1]. Ottawa has a significant francophone population, and under city government policy, all municipal services are available in both English and French [2].
The current mayor of Ottawa is Bob Chiarelli.
As with other national capitals, the word "Ottawa" is also used to refer by metonymy to the country's federal government, especially as opposed to provincial or municipal authorities.

worth? by whose standards? Capital punishment is the purview of the barbarian, imho. would executing criminals carry returned the sufferers? somewhat some people who would desire to be labelled "hardened criminals" have ASPD, additionally known as sociopathy. it rather is an untreatable psychiatric circumstance so killing a psychopath won't sparkling up the subject. there'll continuously be yet another Paul Bernardo or Clifford Olsen to maintain on with. What correct to the killers who've paranoid schizophrenia or cephalic syphilis or perhaps yet another scientific circumstance? ideal scientific treatment can help lots of those human beings - no longer deadly injection or the electrical powered chair. confident, certainly, scientific technological know-how has come a protracted way in forensics yet, like another area of technological know-how, it is not ideal and in no way would be rather foolproof. rather, sentence those criminals to an entire life of being compelled to take heed to previous Bee Gees tunes or having to observe Gilligan's Island episodes 24/7/365
