I answered this before, but Remove the Distributor Cap, with Engine off- leave the Wires in place- for now- inside the Cap, you will see a Rotor on top of a shaft, it either lifts off or unscrews, Replace it too, you will see a Capacitor, replace it, then you will see the Points, held down with two Screws, one to hold and one is set in to allow Adjustments of the Gap- You must know the Gap to set this propererly, no specs, you can get by using a Dime. Inside the Dist Cap you will see Metal where each wire connects on top, if its worn down, Replace the cap, and it probably is worn. These are basic steps, much more to it- btw I used to own a Scout, wish I still had it. That was in 1980, lol
The Cap is held on either with Screws on two sides or with Springs, to unsnap. good luck.
